Best Bible Verses for a Christmas Card

Kathi Downs
The Christmas holidays are fast approaching, and people are starting to think of their Christmas card list. Many people choose to create their own Christmas cards, because they are able to put on each card exactly what they want, showing how they feel, and their artistic style.

Christian people like to keep 'Jesus' or 'Christ' as the center of their Christmas season and celebration, thus using many of the Bible verses that speak of the birth of Christ, or God's gifts to us, as verses in their cards.

Here are a few of the most commonly used Bible verses that are used in Christmas cards. Keep in mind that seldom is the whole Bible verse used. The parts of the verses used are the parts that tell the message that the user is trying to get across.

1. Luke 2:10

And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

2. Luke 2:11

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

I have seen Christmas cards where these verses were used together, and used separately. It would depend upon personal choice.

3. Luke 2:14

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

4. John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

5. Psalms 72:11

Yea, all kings shall fall down before him: All nations shall serve him.

6. I John 4:10

Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

7. Matthew 1:21

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

8. Matthew 1:23

Behold, A virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

9. Isaiah 7:14

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son and call his name Immanuel.

10. Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

The advent of the personal home computer has made it possible for the non-artist to create their own Christmas cards, using verses from the Bible to send special thoughts to special people.
