Bedwetting is a common issue in households with children. Sometimes, a book can help children to alleviate the stress and guilt that they feel because of their inability to stop bedwetting. While bedwetting is a completely uncontrollable issue and most children will grow out of it with time, these books on bedwetting may help reduce the anxiety and help your child to build a better sense of self-esteem while they await the time it takes for their bodies to physically outgrow bedwetting.

Sammy the Elephant and Mr. Camel: A Story to Help Children Overcome Bedwetting

This book doesn't actually address any bedwetting issues directly but it tells the story of an Elephant named Sammy who is inspired by a Camel that shows him how to recognize his own strengths and the things that he is good at. In the end, Sammy the Elephant has a new found sense of self-esteem and is ready to conquer other skills that he never would have tried before. The book also offers a section that addresses the issue of bedwetting and offers a guide for parents of bed wetters to look over and get some insight on the cause, treatment, and other valuable information about bedwetting.

Do Little Mermaids Wet Their Beds?

A conceptual book about a little girl who wets the bed and then one night dreams about a mermaid who also wets the bed, this bedwetting book is great for young children who have a problem with wetting the bed. Although there is little explanation as to how the mermaid finally stopped wetting the bed, for some kids this is acceptable because they too will (magically) one day stop wetting the bed without further attention to the subject. My daughter likes mermaids so this was a good choice for her!

What to Do When You Worry too Much: A Kid's Guide to Overcoming Anxiety

Of the many books on bedwetting that are available on the market, this book focuses on helping children that range in age from 6-12 who may wet the bed due to anxiety issues. While most children will stop wetting the bed before the age of 6, a few will continue on up into the teenage years and this is often partially due to anxiety caused by the problem. It teaches children how to make their worries less dramatic and to get over anxiety issues. This often results in bedwetting becoming less of an issue and ultimately, irrelevant to the equation completely! My oldest daughter really liked this book and found the story line funny and easy to understand.

Dry Days, Wet Nights

A story about a bunny that doesn't want to wear diapers to bed anymore but has a problem with consistently wetting the bed at night, this book really addresses the issue that bedwetting is uncontrollable and something that children (even bunnies) will grow out of. Many books on bedwetting do not fully address how bed wetters stop wetting the bed but this book really focuses on the physical ability and the fact that bedwetting something that children will outgrow. My daughters both love bunnies so this book was a good choice for them and the ease of the little bunny having the same problem made them feel like they were not in the situation alone.

Books on Bedwetting for Parents of Bed Wetters

Seven Steps to Nighttime Dryness: A Practical Guide for Parents of Children with Bedwetting

This guide is the all around tool if waiting it out just seems impossible for you to do as a parent. This bedwetting book will explain why kids wet the bed, when you should seek further treatment for bedwetting, and also various remedies that can be used to stop bedwetting. It's important to keep in mind that most children will outgrow bedwetting by the age of 4 and most of those who don't will outgrow it by 6 years old. A very small percentage of children will continue to wet the bed past the age of 6 and it is the parents of these older children that I truly recommend this book for. This book will walk you through the process of treatment for bedwetting and answers nearly any question you could have about bedwetting.

My son wet the bed until he was almost 8. He loved the children's book, Prince Bravery and Grace - Attack of the Wet Knights. Its a clever story about a prince who struggles with "wet nights" and beats them by using an alarm. After reading the story he was interested in trying an alarm. And in about 7 weeks went from wet every night to dry every night. the book is on amazon or www.braveryandgrace.com
