In Southern France along the Garonne River lies the region of Bordeaux. There are in this region, 57 appellations of Bordeaux wine. Among the 57 there are approximately 23 that are white wine appellations. Picking the best of these appellations is no easy task as each is internationally recognized as the standard by which all other white wines are judged. Here is a list of the 23 Bordeaux White Wine Appellations.

Dry White Wines:

Dry white wines and seafood say yes to each other almost always. It really depends on the type of seafood and the accompanying seasonings that will determine which wine you'll ultimately choose.

Sauternes- Château d'Yquem Sauternes 1995 from Sauternes and Barsac, France -

Try the "Chateau Hostens-Picant;" a superb house from this region; rich and balanced, with a bit more heft than one would imagine. It's age-worthy as well.

1787 Chateau d'Yquem ($56,588) undrinkable of course but made the Guinness Book of World Records.

The $8-$35 price range represents approximately 80% of all Bordeaux and offers the quality and value that appeal to American consumers.
