The German Society of Philadelphia's Oktoberfest celebration will be held on September 18th, 2010. The event is sponsored by the German Society of Philadelphia. The very old society has been around since 1764. In addition to holding the annual Oktoberfest, the society holds weekly events to promote and celebrate German heritage. It's a great place for people to get together at! The even offer German language classes and donates scholarship money to the local community.
The 2010 Oktoberfest is being held at: German Society of Pennsylvania, 611 Spring Garden Street Philadelphia, PA 19123. The society holds this event in their huge historic hall which is decorated in a German historical theme. The phone number is: 215-627-2332. Their email is: info@germansociety.org. The Oktoberfest event starts in the early afternoon at 2:00PM and goes till the sun goes down!
You can save some money on admission by purchasing tickets in advance. If you plan ahead, you can save $5.00 on an adult admission and $2.00 on a child admission. You might as well save some money and block the time out on your calendar. The admission rates are as follows: In Advance - $20 Adult, $10 Children, On the Day of - $25 Adult, $12 Children. This event is appropriate for children and they are welcome to attend. You can email or call to purchase tickets in advance, or buy them the day of at the door.
The admission gets you unlimited drinks and food, so I found it to be a good value if you have a hearty appetite and a thirst for good beer! If you are not a beer drinker, there is also water, soda and wine available.
The Oktoberfest is more than just good beer. The food is tasty too. There is potato salad, brats, roasted pig and a slew of deserts to choose from. And as if the food and beer didn't sound good enough, entertainment is included in the price. The entertainment is a folk band playing traditional music.
Whether you are German, or just wish you were German - be sure to check out this Oktoberfest on September 18th. It is one fall celebration you will not want to miss!Source: www.germansociety.org
