Best Break Up Songs that Empower (Not Depress)
Because Dwelling in Your Misery Can Be Nice- but Rising Above it is so Much More Attractive
Every time I break up with another (yes another I know it's quite sad) significant other there are two particular songs that I listen to at high volume over and over to help me deal with the heart aching pain. Many breakup songs tend to be depressing and I admit can be perfect tools to help you dwell in your own misery which I will additionally admit, is sometimes somehow comforting. But after a break up you can only dwell so much. Eventually you have to see it for what it is, call it a lesson learned and move on to better things in your life.
I really wish I could present a song with lyrics that I myself wrote but I will be the first to say that I tend to have the same breakup song problem I speak of: wallowing in misery.
So instead I will share with you my two favorite most perfect breaking up songs of, (I believe) all time. Or at least as far as I have thus far learned about. They are uplifting, inspiring, they show strength in femininity (though men could probably get use from them too) and celebrate the joy we often forget comes many times with independence and being single.
And to top it off if that weren't convincing enough for you to find a way to obtain these tracks for your listening pleasure, maybe this will motivate you to action: The melodies that are combined with such great lyrics I mention is sung and played in such a way that is sassy, assertive funky-sexy in its groove and best of all, it's great to sing at the top of your lungs as a tribute to the person who did you wrong.
So now, the two best breaking up songs:
(because sometimes other people say it better.)
I will paste the lyrics here of each one, with a thank you to my kind friends over at STLyrics.com for providing them for us.
BREAKING UP SONG # 1
Musician Artist: Christina Aguilera
Album: Stripped
Song Title: Fighter!
~~~And now for the perfect breaking up lyrics:
FIGHTER!
~~Hmmm, After all you put me through
You'd think I'd despise you
But in the end I want to thank you
'Cause you made me that much stronger
~~When I, thought I knew you
Thinking, that you were true
I guess I, I couldn't trust
Called your bluff, time is up
'Cause I've had enough
You were, there by my side
Always, down for the ride
But your, joy ride just came down in flames
'Cause your greed sold me out in shame, mmhmm
~~After all of the stealing and cheating
You probably think that I hold resentment for you
But, uh uh, oh no, you're wrong
'Cause if it wasn't for all that you tried to do
I wouldn't know just how capable I am to pull through
So I wanna say thank you 'cause
~~It makes me that much stronger
Makes me work a little bit harder
It makes me that much wiser
So thanks for making me a fighter
Made me learn a little bit faster
Made my skin a little bit thicker
Makes me that much smarter
So thanks for making me a fighter
~~Ohh, ohh, ohh, ohhhh, ohh-yeah ah uhhhuh
~~Never, saw it coming
All of, your backstabbing
Just so, you could cash in
On a good thing before I realized your game
I heard, you're going around
Playing the victim now
But don't, even begin
Feeling I'm the one to blame
'Cause you dug your own grave
~~After all of the fights and the lies
Yes you wanted to harm me but that won't work anymore
Uh, no more, oh no, it's over
'Cause if it wasn't for all of your torture
I wouldn't know how to be this way now, and never back down
So I wanna say thank you 'cause
~~It makes me that much stronger
Makes me work a little bit harder
Makes me that much wiser
So thanks for making me a fighter
Made me learn a little bit faster
Made my skin a little bit thicker
It makes me that much smarter
So thanks for making me a fighter
~~How could this man I thought I knew
Turn out to be unjust so cruel
Could only see the good in you
Pretended not to see the truth
You tried to hide your lies, disguise yourself
Through living in denial
But in the end you'll see
You won't stop me!
~~I am a fighter and I,
I ain't gonna stop
There is no turning back
I've had enough
~~'Cause it makes me that much stronger
Makes me work a little bit harder
Makes me that much wiser
So thanks for making me a fighter
Made me learn a little bit faster
Made my skin a little bit thicker
It makes me that much smarter
So thanks for making me a fighter
~~You thought I would forget,
But I, I remember
I remember, I remember
You thought I would forget,
But I, I remember
I remember, I remember
~~'Cause it makes me that much stronger
Makes me work a little bit harder
Makes me that much wiser
So thanks for making me a fighter
Made me learn a little bit faster
Made my skin a little bit thicker
It makes me that much smarter
So thanks for making me a fighter
SURVIVOR
*[Da Brat]*
~~Welcome to the wonderful world of Destiny's Child
I'm Da Brat-tat-tat, my homeboy Den on the track
and we gon' lay you flat on yo' back
when the beat-boom-boom-pat-pat like that, y'heard me?
~We comin in this game like some survivor's
and we leavin this game like some survivor's
So from now, until we dead and gone
we gon' BE, some survivors, y'heard me?
Beyonce, where you at? Uhh!
*[Beyonce]*
~~Now that you're outta my life, I'm so much better
You thought that I'd be weak without ya, but I'm stronger
You thought that I'd be broke without ya, but I'm richer
You thought that I'd be sad without ya, I love harder
You thought I wouldn't grow without ya, now I'm wiser!
You thought that I'd be helpless without ya but I'm smarter
You thought that I'd be stressed without ya, but I'm chillin
You thought I wouldn't sell without ya, sold nine million
*[Chorus: Destiny's Child]*
~~I'ma survivor (WHAT), I'm not gon' give up (WHAT)
I'm not gon' stop (WHAT), I'm gon' work harder (WHAT)
I'ma survivor (WHAT), I'm gonna make it (WHAT)
I will survive (WHAT), keep on survivin (WHAT)
~~[Chorus]~~
*[Beyonce]*
~~You thought I couldn't breathe without ya, I'm inhaling
You thought I couldn't see without ya, perfect vision
You thought I couldn't last without ya, but I'm lastin
You thought that I would die without ya, but I'm livin
Thought that I would fail without ya, but I'm on top
Thought it would be over by now, but it won't stop
Though that I would self-destruct, but I'm still here
Even in my years to come, I'm still gon' be here!
~~[Chorus - 2X]~~
*[Kelly]*
~~Wishin you the best, pray that you are blessed
Much success, no stress, and lots of happiness
I'm better than that! I'm not gon' blast you on the radio
I'm better than that! I'm not gon' lie on you and your family
I'm better than that! I'm not gon' hate on you in the magazines
I'm better than that! I'm not gon' compromise my Christianity
I'm better than that! You know I'm not gon' diss you on the internet
cause my momma tought me better than that!
~~[Chorus - 2X]~~
*[Da Brat over end of Chorus]*
~~Uhh, c'mon, uhh
Now that I been through the storm and the rain
Climbed up the ruff side and got tough at times
but I remain, if I got the stuff to shine
and without the pump, protect mine
Survive in the game, hate on me cause you lame
They don't ever see your face or say your name
No more pain for me, no more misery, cause you history
~I'ma hold on to what I got
Strap on to my perfection, strap on protection
My own direction, born to be the best at what I do
I'ma make it through, stompin like a soldier in my big black boots
~I keep 'em "Jumpin, Jumpin," stayin funky, funky for you
No matter who's that man that walk out of your life
You don't need 'em, don't be no heater
Long as I'm still breathin, not leavin for no reason
See them come and go, one switch, they not gold
No house no mo', not even a condo
As long as I know how to love, I'ma stay alive
No need your game or style
They can't tame me cause I'm wild, not ashamed of stayin down
~Can the rain sit, and 'em things chromed out, spit
and in my game, no doubt, I'ma get paid in a big way, survivor!
~~[Chorus - 4X]~~
Post a CommentDon't worry about the formatting, great article anyhow!!
Sorry Everyone about the formatting in this article. I realize it makes the lyrics more difficult to read but I could not figure out for the life of me a way to properly break up the verses in the AC Publishing box, No matter what i tried it reverted to what you see now. So sorry ahead of time that this is hard on your eyes but the songs and lyrics I promise are well worth reading through. They inspire!
