Directions for Best Breakfast Recipes: Caramelized Cinnamon French Toast

1
Place the sugar into a small bowl. While stirring the sugar with a whisk or a fork slowly pour in the vanilla, continuing to mix until it has coated all of the sugar. Next mix in the cinnamon until it has coated the sugar as well. Pour the vanilla sugar into a wide flat container, such as a casserole dish. Set this aside.
2
Combine the eggs, milk and salt in a mixing bowl. Beat this for about 30 seconds or until it has a relatively even color and consistency.
3
Place your stale bread slices in the egg mixture for 10 to 20 seconds and make sure both sides are covered. Quickly remove the slices and place into the dish containing the vanilla sugar. Move them around in the sugar, making sure to coat both sides.
4
Heat your pan on the stove top at a low-medium setting. Cooking the sugar on too high of a heat will cause it to quickly burn. Butter the pan and make sure it is slightly bubbling but not browning. Let each side cook for around 4-5 minutes or until they are a medium golden brown.
5
Garnish with orange slices and serve with a savory side dish. Feel free to sprinkle on powdered sugar or use a hint of syrup with your caramelized French toast, though you may end up realizing it doesn't even need any.
