Best Bridesmaid Colors for a Garden Wedding

Kristen May
Your garden wedding is a perfect setting because it has so much color in it. However, the difficulty in having so much color already is that you have to decide on a bridesmaid color that will match your garden wedding venue.

Bridesmaid Color for a Garden Wedding: Green

In a location with so much green already existing, many people would think you were crazy for adding more green to your garden wedding site. However, greens, especially lighter ones, go very well in garden weddings, and there are also a lot of good flower options. Having bridesmaids wear green dresses also has the added benefit of keeping your color palette very simple with just greens and whites, leaving lots of room for creativity in making a simple and clean wedding look.

Bridesmaid Color for a Garden Wedding: Red

If you don't mind the potential Christmas undertones of a bride in white with attendants in red against a green background, red is a great bridesmaid color for a garden wedding. This is because it stands out very well from the green background, while still remaining vibrant and highly visible. Of course, it is also a classic color of love, and makes a good excuse to use some red roses in the bridal bouquet.

Bridesmaid Color for a Garden Wedding: Black with Accents

Although it may seem odd for bridesmaids to wear black dresses outside, it is worth consideration if they will be wearing or carrying large amounts of accent color. Bridesmaids in black will be a great backdrop for displaying flowers against, if you are looking for those to pop out and be highly visible. Another option for accenting black bridesmaid dresses is to have them wear a wide ribbon of another color to match your wedding color scheme.

Bridesmaid Color for a Garden Wedding: Light Pink

Garden weddings are some of the best settings for light pink bridesmaids because the dresses will find a lot of contrast with the dark greens of the grass and the rest of the garden. This is in comparison to indoor church weddings, where bridesmaids in light pink might look a little bit washed out, and not easily distinguishable from the bride's white dress. As far as the shade of light pink goes, anything from a very pale pink to a more classic pink will work, although you do have to be careful with matching the classic pink to any flowers existing in the garden. Whatever pink you choose, it is sure to make your bridesmaids look delicate and beautiful in your garden wedding.

Bridesmaid Color for a Garden Wedding: Aqua to Turquoise

So this one isn't exactly one color, but rather a range of colors going anywhere from the vibrant medium blue of turquoise through the equally vibrant medium blue-green of aqua. These colors will all look very bright and beautiful in a garden full of deeper greens. You could either pick one of the colors for your bridesmaids, or let them pick a dress anywhere in that range. David's Bridal has a few potential colors in this range, or if you are feeling really adventurous, you could set them free to pick out their own dress from wherever they want.
