Best Burger Joints in Gresham, Oregon

Adam Sparks
Located 14.5 miles east of downtown Portland, Oregon, Gresham has many great restaurants. But if it's thick, juicy burgers you're after, there are really only three worthy options - Dea's In and Out, Burgerville and Red Robin.

Dea's In and Out

Dea's In and Out is a family-owned restaurant that's been a favorite among Gresham residents since 1953. The restaurant's signature item is the "long burger," which is a one-quarter pound, rectangular-shaped burger patty served with homemade special sauce, pickles and onions on a homemade burger bun. Add an order of french fries with a side of special sauce for a perfect lunch or dinner. Dea's offers a variety of menu items that are all cooked to order, including salads, chicken sandwiches, homemade onion rings and homemade deep-fried mushrooms. There is a full breakfast menu, with excellent options such as omelettes, waffles and biscuits and gravy, and a separate bar menu that includes nightly specials such as T-bone steaks, yakisoba noodles with chicken and homemade meat loaf with mashed potatoes.

Burgerville USA

Burgerville uses regional ingredients to create its tasty menu items, including Tillamook cheese from the Tillamook Cheese Factory on the Oregon coast and fresh, local fruit (when in season) in its thick, creamy milkshakes. True to its name, however, Burgerville's best menu items are its burgers. The pepper bacon cheeseburger is fantastic, as is the half-pound colossal cheeseburger, which features two quarter-pound patties, cheese, ketchup, pickles, tomato, lettuce and Burgerville's special spread on a sesame bun. The menu also has vegetarian items, such as the spicy anasazi bean burger, and a variety of chicken sandwiches, as well as a separate breakfast menu that's available daily until 11 a.m.

Red Robin Gourmet Burgers

Red Robin offers a variety of burgers on its extensive menu, and has been rated No. 1 by Zagat for best burger. Red Robin's burger options are too many to list, but highlights include the guacamole bacon burger that's piled high with swiss cheese, bacon, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, mayonnaise and homemade guacamole. The blackened bayou burger has roasted red peppers, grilled onions, pepper-jack cheese, creole mustard sauce and cabbage-carrot slaw on a jalapeƱo-cornmeal roll. Red Robin has excellent steak-style french fries that are refillable, and the menu includes an array of salads, as well as chicken sandwiches.
