Best Burgers in Tampa/St. Petersburg

These days you can get a hamburger pretty much anywhere, even in an upscale restaurant. The trick is finding a really good burger. If you'd rather not shell out about $50 for a Kobe beef burger, which I guarantee you will be a burger you never forget, then you need to find something in the right price range.

The first place I would have to mention is Biff Burger in St. Petersburg which is located at 3939 49th Street North and should be tried by everyone. I had been told about it many times before I finally made it there and it was well worth the trip. Talk about delicious, huge and cheap as can be. You can get a delicious meal here for about the same price you would spend at a fast food chain, but get a much larger and tastier burger. I enjoy the simple Biff Deluxe which comes with mayo, lettuce, tomato, pickle and onion. I recommend having a side of tater tots to round out the meal. Trust me when I say this burger is big enough for most appetites and although it is thin, it is char-broiled to perfection. If you need something a little more you could always go for the Super Chili Cheese Burger.

One of the better burgers to be had, hard to believe, is at Chili's Bar & Grill Restaurant located 17643 Bruce B. Downs Boulevard in New Tampa. The burgers here are extremely delicious and you can't tell where the bun ends and the burger begins. They start with fresh USDA Choice beef and hand mold it into a delectable thick burger which is then grilled to perfection. These are not exactly cheap burgers, with an average price of around $9, but trust me it is worth it. You can't go wrong with an old-fashioned Oldtimer burger, but don't miss the Mushroom Swiss or the Ground Peppercorn Burger.

The more recent addition of Five Guys Burger and Fries all over the Tampa/St. Pete area have brought a simple yet delicious option to burger lovers. The concept is very simple here. You walk in and order a choice of eight hamburgers ranging from the basic hamburger to the Little Bacon Cheeseburger. Add an order of fries because that is the only side they serve. You can munch on some peanuts out of the barrel offered at each location while waiting for your fresh ground beef burger. The burgers are tasty and juicy and with a variety of toppings available at no charge, you can create your perfect burger. My favorite toppings are grilled onions and A-1 Steak Sauce. You will be pleasantly surprised by the fresh cut and fried, bag full of fries, so make sure to order them with your burger. They go perfectly together.
