Apple iPhone 4 pre-sales will begin on June 15 2010 and anyone can place an order at an Apple Store near them. However, not everyone has an Apple Store nearby, so Best Buy, Wal-Mart and Radio Shack are also getting in on the selling deal.

The Pre-Sale Deal: Best Buy

Best Buy will offer pre-sales of the iPhone 4 beginning June 15 at the hour of store opening at all of their physical storefronts in the US and on their Best Buy Mobile website. According to Best Buy's press release dated June 14 2010, Shawn Score, president of Best Buy Mobile, stated that because Best buy is offering pre-sales of the Apple iPhone 4, it is a good "...example of how Best Buy Mobile has become the place to go for the best smartphones." Additionally he also stated that allowing the iPhone to sell with the ranks of the Sprint HTC EVO and the Verizon HTC Incredible "...gives customers a great opportunity to view each side-by-side and get the mobile phone that works best for them." Best Buy will sell the iPhone 4 in their stores and on their mobile website on the official release date of June 24 2010.

The Pre-Sale Deal: Radio Shack

Radio Shack will also offer pre-sales of the Apple iPhone 4when their doors open. However, they will require a $50 deposit to reserve one of the phones. Additionally, Radio Shack is also accepting trade in iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS models and is asking customers to go into a Radio Shack store for an appraisal. According to an update posted on June 11 2010 to the company's Twitter account using the hash tag "#shackiphone," the deal for any size memory iPhone 3GS in good condition will garner $200 as a trade in for the new iPhone. A good condition iPhone 3G is going for $100 towards the new iPhone 4. While Wal-Mart will sell the iPhone 4 on is release date, the company is not part of the pre-sale deals.

Something to Remember

Anyone wishing to trade in their old iPhones, be aware that your upgrade eligibility most certainly affects the price you will pay for the new Apple iPhone 4. If a customer qualifies for an upgrade before the end of 2010, then that customer will qualify for the $199 price for the iPhone 4. However, if a customer is not eligible for the upgrade this year, then they will pay more, but there are other options available to them instead. Additionally, those who have recently purchased the iPhone 3GS, you may be eligible for a refund, due to the recent price drop. However, today June 14 2010 is possibly the last day to file the claim for the refund.

How the Rebate Deal Works

If an iPhone 3GS customer purchased the 32GB iPhone, then they are eligible for a $100 rebate. If they purchased the 16 GB iPhone, then they are eligible for a $50 rebate. According to Engadget, the deal is, "if you purchased (an iPhone) between May 7 and May 14, you'll have until June 14 to get credited the difference between the price you paid and the $149 / $199 they're charging now..." Additionally, they also state that, "... who picked up a 3GS between May 7 and May 21 can preorder an iPhone 4 by June 21 and get the new phone for only the difference in cost."

Therefore, if you want a new Apple iPhone 4, then you certainly have many choices. The problem is which one is the most beneficial to any particular customer? AT&T is known for their lack in working with the customer, so there must be a trick up their sleeves. Additionally, those who choose to trade in their iPhones still have to wait almost 10 days before they can get their hands on a new one, so choose your deal wisely.

Isn't that exclusive deal between AT&T and Apple set to expire this year? Maybe that's why there's all this interest in selling iPhones at the "big box" stores + Radio Shack. Gettin' ready to cash in. Nice article, JC!
