Easier to Use Than Paint and Brushes

A. D. Rollins
Opaque permanent paint markers are used for a variety of craft and writing projects. They can be used like other permanent markers but don't run or fade like ink does. They can also be used on more surfaces than other kinds of markers, such as wood, glass, rubber, plastic, cloth, pottery, and metal. Paint markers are also available in different sizes of tips.

Elmer's Opaque Paint Markers

Elmer's makes opaque paint markers in three kinds of tips: fine, medium and calligraphy. They work on almost any surface and are also non-toxic and acid-free. Besides using the paint markers directly onto paper or glass, you can also mix colors. Depressing the tips lets the paint flow, which can then be mixed to whatever color or shade you like. Elmer's Opaque Paint Markers are available in a five-pack or individually. They're available in several different colors, such as blue, yellow, red, black and white, gold and silver.

Sharpie Paint Markers

Sharpie makes oil-based paint markers in five colors: white, black, red, yellow and blue. Even though there are oil-based, work done with the markers dries quickly. The paint is also water- and fade-resistant, and doesn't scratch easily. The markers come in five sizes: extra fine, fine, medium, bold and extra bold. Sharpie's oil-based paint markers are also certified non-toxic and contain no Xylene. The company also makes water-based paint markers, which come in eighteen colors, certified safe o use by children, and are acid-free.

DecoColor Acrylic Paint Markers

DecoColor makes a line of water-based acrylic paint markers. They only come with one kind of tip, a chisel point, but you can choose from either individual colors or three different color packs. One pack is a primary color group, with markers in red, blue, black and green. The second is a metallic color set, with metallic gold, silver, blue and green. The third is a set of bright colors, including aubergine, yellow, pink and violet. The individual markers come in colors like pale orange, bubble gum, English red, celadon, and wisteria.

Sakura Permapaque Opaque Paint Markers

Like many of Sakura's markers, the Permapaque paint markers are two-headed, with one end featuring a chisel head and the other utilizing a fine bullet head. The markers are odorless and non-toxic and come in a number of primary colors and shades like sky blue and yellow-green. A metallic line was initially offered but has since been discontinued.
