Best Cajun in North Austin - If You Can Find It!

Sambet's may not look like much, but the food speaks for itself. They're famous for their muffulettas - specialty bread brushed with seasoned olive oil, topped with meats and cheeses, grilled and heaped with olive salad. I personally go for the original with ham, salami and provolone - but you can get turkey, veggie or pesto muffulettas as well. My personal favorite: roast beef po'boy (in an amazing spicy gravy!) with a side of seriously yummy jamabalaya!

The lunch crowd goes for the Sambet's Original Boudin Sandwich, with boudin (removed from the casing) seasoned up and spread on a po'boy roll and topped with provolone. Plus, be sure to check out Sambet's on Mondays - the traditional day for red beans and rice, which they do so very well! Sambet's also has rotating seasonal dishes (including the occasional blue crab and gator) and of course, seasonal fresh crawfish (mudbugs)!

If that's not enough for you, you can always have a look around at the store's more than 400 hot sauces, Cajun spices, BBQ Sauces, salsas - not to mentioned more pickled jabeneros than you can shake a stick at! With the holidays getting into full swing, be sure to order your Cajun deep fried turkey (or ask about catering) while you're there! ( tell 'em Mari sent you!)
