Best Candles: Slatkin & Co. Candles from Bath & Body Works

If you love, love, love scented candles, then you owe it to yourself to get the very best. That doesn't necessarily mean shelling out a ton of money, and it certainly doesn't mean going for the same old store brands.

I love scented candles, even the inexpensive, generic brand "sugar cookie" jar-with-lid types found in grocery stores, and the Glade scented candles. However, when it comes to spending a bit more, I am picky with quality and strength of scent , as well as the burning time and evenness of the candle.

I recently discovered a brand of jar-style scented candles that is truly outstanding and unique. Below is a review and recommendation for one of the absolute best scented candle brands you can buy, along with some specific scent recommends.

Slatkin & Co. Candles, Bath & Body Works

For Christmas, I received a gift certificate for Bath & Body Works, and of course, planned to use it on some of my favorite body products. However, once I made it to the display of Slatkin & Co. candles that were on sale, it was spent-nothing else stood a chance that day.

These candles are amazing, every one of them. The scents are all somehow very, 70s retro--if you don't know what I mean, you probably will when you smell them. There is one called Fresh Bamboo that smells like--a cross between the old bamboo, wicker, eucalyptus filled Pier 1 in 1977, and like if you won a vacation to Hawaii on The Price is Right in that same year.

The fruity ones are very good--there's an orange, mango pineapple, and others that I could not get my nose out of. There's one called Moonlight Path that smells very "Avon"--but in the 70s--and it's a good thing. I was overwhelmed smelling all of them--maybe it was just the mood I was in, but I literally felt overwhelmed with nostalgia.

Nicely, the 4 oz. candles were on sale for just $5, and according to Bath & Body Works' website, will be through June 28, 2009. A note about this sale-I found an email to my sister, in which I was raving about the candles. It was dated February 22nd, and that seems an awfully long time for a single sale.

It makes me wonder if the candles go off and on sale intermittently; in any case, it might be worth asking a clerk if you find yourself in the store, in love with the candles, and finding they are not on sale. Perhaps another sale is looming. However, even at full price, they are worth every penny.

Aside from the 4 oz. jar (burning time 25-50 hours) the Slatkin & Co. candles are also available in 14.5 oz. (40-65 hours) and 22 oz. (60-80 hours.) Bath & Body Works, here you come!

Help ! I have been searching for the fragrance of White Citrus (candle) by Signature Collection but have been unable to locate. This was the best fragrance that I have found in a long while. Purchased last summer.

I recently discovered these candles after receiving a tip that my sister wanted body spray and candles for Christmas. I landed on Bath and Body Work's website, and chose some body sprays and candles for her. I then decided to get a candle for myself, and chose the Fresh Bamboo, "scent unsmelt," and I am sure it is my favorite of them all. I previously got my candles from Yankee Candle, but Slatkin and Co have them beat hands down. I haven't even lit it yet, and the fragrance fills the room as if it's burning. What a great find! I have more on the way!
