Best Character on Friends

He wasn't too good with the ladies. He was never quite happy with his job. He was a bit of a suck-up. He was a smart-ass. He was afraid of commitment. He had family issues, including somewhat of a slut for a mother and a drag queen for a dad. But despite all his flaws - or perhaps because of them - Chandler Bing was the best character on Friends.

Chandler Bing was portrayed by Matthew Perry on the hit television sitcom Friends. He cracked the jokes which were meant to sound like jokes, which is even a bigger challenge when trying to make people laugh. He was sarcastic and he had an unusual manner of speech, which could have easily worn thin if delivered by just about any other actor. Could that catch phrase BE any more annoying?

Somehow, Chandler Bing remained a favorite among male viewers, even though he had difficulty scoring with the ladies, took long, relaxing bubble baths, and most outsiders on the show questioned his sexuality. None of that mattered. He was funny.

Sure, he became a bit of a wuss around Monica. But most will always remember him as the skinny guy who snuck cigarettes out of his desk drawer at work, who became handcuffed in Ralph Lauren's building by Rachel's boss, who threw a hissy fit when he thought Joey tried to save Ross's life instead of his during a ride-along with Phoebe's cop boyfriend. Chandler was relieved when Joey informed him that he was only trying to save his meatball sub.

Chandler Bing always seemed to be unlucky. And which of us can't relate to that? He had an annoying ex named Janice who always seemed to be popping up. He had a male boss who constantly liked to smack him on the ass. He had parents who seemed to go out of their way to embarrass him. And of course, his last name was Bing.

Even Chandler's good luck always seemed to turn bad. When Phoebe's brother decided to name one of the triplets after him, the baby turned out to be a girl.

I personally wasn't pleased that Chandler found happiness during the run of Friends. His struggle was what was so funny. His terrible luck was a connection all men and women on some level seem to share. But with four to six reruns a night, we are all bound to see Chandler single and striving again on a regular basis. Despite all his hardships, he always maintained a great sense of humor. And that's why Chandler Bing was the best character on Friends.
