Best Cheap Restaurants in Tampa to Eat at with Kids

Erin Rivera
Dining with kids can be tricky and pricey if you are not sure where to go. Luckily there are many restaurants out there that work hard to have a family friendly atmosphere and cater to their customers. Here is a look at 4 restaurants in Tampa where kids and parents can relax and have a nice meal together without breaking the bank. These restaurants offer specials where kids can eat for free or cheaply making them even more family friendly.

My first choice of family friendly restaurants that offer free meals for kids is Denny's located at 1700 E Fowler Ave. in Tampa Florida. Here kids can eat free from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Their kids menu is designed for kids ages 10 and under and has a great selection of choices including things such as spaghetti, quesadillas and healthy side items like apple slices. This Denny's is open 24 hours a day and they have a great adult menu as well with a fun selection of breakfast items, dinner plates (including steak and seafood items) and they also offer senior discounts for days you want to bring along the grandparents. Prices are very reasonable and you get up to two free kids meals with the purchase of an adult entree. To contact this particular Denny's you can call them at: 813-971-9441.

Steak N Shake located at 1450 E Fowler Ave. in Tampa Florida is my second choice and the first choice for my sons. They love Steak N Shake because they give fun car puzzles and old fashioned hats to wear. They also love the menu that offers delicious burgers, fries, hot dogs and milk shakes. Kids eat free here at Steak N Shake on Saturdays and Sundays with the every $8 spent. This deal lasts all weekend so it's great for dinner as well as lunch. Steak N Shake is very inexpensive so you get fast food prices but with the real dine in experience. Steak N Shake is open 24 hours a day and you can reach them at: 813-971-9700.

IHOP is my third choice of restaurants that is family friendly and cheap to dine at with kids. We frequent the IHOP located at 11710 Morris Bridge Rd. in Tampa Florida. They are open 24 hours a day and every day from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. kids eat free with the purchase of an adult meal. This deal qualifies for kids ages 12 and younger. IHOP has long been popular for parents and kids. They serve delicious pancakes but also dinner and lunch entrees as well. Kids can pick from breakfast items to nutritious items such as grilled fish and broccoli. Adults have a menu that includes specialty pancakes, crepes, waffles to dinner items and sandwiches. Prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is relaxed. You can reach this particular IHOP at: 813-983-0125.

Lastly we will take a look at Village Inn. While they do not offer free kids meals they do offer a special treat on Wednesdays that is great for kids and adults. Village Inn is known for their great pies and on Wednesday diners of all ages can take part in "Pie Rush Wednesday" where with the purchase of an adult meal or kids meal they get a free piece of pie (choices vary by day). One of the more popular choices for kids is their delicious French Silk pie! The kids meals are very cheap at Village Inn so this is a great deal. They can choose from breakfast dishes such as the "Funny Face" which is a meal that consists of pancakes, an egg and a piece of sausage or bacon or lunch and dinner items such as cheeseburgers. The adult menu is also inexpensive with breakfast served all day and a nice choice of sandwiches, burgers and dinner entrees with items like steak or their smothered grilled chicken. Village Inn is located at 7011 W Hillsborough Ave. in Tampa and you can reach them by calling them at: 813-884-5292.
