Best and Cheapest Places to Buy Bedroom and Bathroom Home Furnishings in Bangkok, Thailand
Bangkok Has Some Wonderful Places to Shop that Are Cheap!
Some Tips on Buying Bedroom and Bathroom Home Furnishings in Bangkok
As a westerner who has lived in Bangkok a long time and learned, through trial and error, what not to do and what not to buy when it comes to bedroom and bathroom home furnishings, I have some great tips to pass along.
For sheets and pillowcases, don't buy the locally-produced products unless absolutely necessary. I made the mistake of doing that when I first came to Bangkok and, after less than a month, my sheets were already full of little beads of cotton from the sheets and already wearing thin. I threw them away, and bought a set of sheets made in Australia and haven't looked back since.
Always measure the bed and the shower before you go shopping for bed sheets or shower curtains. Bangkok has some funky-sized beds and showers so, if you don't measure them, you'll likely find yourself with a pair of sheets or a shower curtain that doesn't fit. And, as it's nigh on impossible to return anything in Bangkok, you'll be stuck with them.
Check out the markets before you start buying bedroom and bathroom home furnishings at department stores. You'll save a ton of money. (In fact, I wish I had done this - but do what I say, and not what I did!)
Where To Buy Bedroom and Bathroom Home Furnishings in Bangkok
Chatuchak Weekend Market - The best place for just about anything in Bangkok, Chatuchak, with its 15,000 plus stalls has an enormous selection of bedroom and bathroom furnishings. Towels, sheets, pillowcases, bedspreads, quilts, shower curtains, pillow cases, cushions, vases, baskets, curtains, soft furnishings, toothbrush holders, towel racks - you name it Chatuchak sells it and at rock-bottom prices. Open Friday evening, all day Saturday and Sunday. Take the sky train to Mo Chit station and follow the crowds.
Suan Lum Night Bazaar - Almost as cheap as Chatuchak and with beautiful quality products, Suan Lum sells towels, sheets, quilt covers, triangular Thai pillows, Thai silk cushion covers, bedspreads, curtains, tissue box covers, hand carved wooden magazine racks, wooden boxes and vases, slippers, robes, shower curtains, bath mats, ceramic soap dishes and more. With more than 2,000 stalls, you'll find a lot of choice for your bedroom and bathroom and with cheap prices. To get to Suan Lum, to to Lumphini underground station and follow the signs.
Central Department Stores - For a lot of imported bedroom and bathroom products at top-rate quality, try any of the Central Department stores. With large bed and bath departments you'll find plush towels, bath mats, a good selection of shower curtains, rattan shelving for bath products, shower heads, toilet seat covers, tissue box covers, pillow cases, sheets, cushions and a great selection of traditional Thai products (although just about double the price of local handicraft markets). Central World Plaza is near Chidlom sky train station, Central Ladprao is next to Pahonyothin underground station, and Central Chidlom is also next to Chidlom sky train station.
Home Pro - A huge chain of do-it-yourself stores, Home Pro has everything for the bed and bath from home furnishing items like sheets, pillow cases, cushions, towels, shower curtains, ornaments, storage boxes and toilet covers. Home Pro also sells bathroom tiles, toilets, wash basins, shower heads, ceiling fans and lights, shelving, shower shelving and tons more things. There are many Home Pros all over Bangkok. One of my favorites is at the Carrefour complex on Ladprao, very near to the Ladprao underground station.
Pasaya - If you want truly wonderful sheets and pillow cases, then look no further than Pasaya. Handmade in Thailand, Pasaya's sheets and pillow cases and simply luxurious and with lots of gorgeous colors and designs to choose from. With thread counts starting at 400, they'll last forever, plus Pasaya can even custom make sheets, pillow cases and curtains if you can't find exactly what you want. Post a CommentExcellent advice. Pakistan was actually a good place to get sheets and bedding made, as they are known for having quality textiles. Of course, you can buy the cheap stuff there too and that will fall apart.
