Seven hospitals were ranked in the top three in a single category. St. Jude's Hospital in Memphis is well known as a top hospital for the treatment of cancer in children and was named number one in that category, but did not make the top three in any other area. The Texas Children's hospital was named as one of the best hospitals in the care of the heart and heart surgery but likewise did not make the list in any other areas. Other single category hospitals included Pittsburgh in their care of diabetes, Seattle for their care in the area of kidney diseases. John's Hopkins was named in the top three in care for neurology, while the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital was named as one of the best in the care of orthopedics. The final hospital named in only a single category was the Riley Hospital in Indianapolis for their care in the area of urology.
Three children's hospitals were named as among the best in multiple areas. Ranked at number three in the nation is the Cincinnati Children's Hospital. This hospital was named in the top three in four areas of care. These included gastroenterology, kidney disease, neonatology and pulmonology. With only two hospitals ranking in more areas of care, the Cincinnati Children's Hospital is certainly one of the best in the nation in providing quality care for children.
Coming in at second place is the Philadelphia Children's Hospital. Not only did the Philadelphia hospital get ranked in multiple areas of care, it was ranked in the top three in all but one area. The only area of care in which the Philadelphia Children's hospital was not named in the top three was kidney disease. This clearly places the Philadelphia Children's Hospital in the realm of elite care and one of the finest institutions specializing in the care of children.
The title of best children's hospital in the United States must go to Boston Children's hospital. This hospital was ranked in the top three in all ten areas of care. Even more impressive is the fact Boston Children's Hospital was ranked as number one in five of the ten categories. Boston Children's Hospital was ranked number one in;
Heart and Heat Surgery
Kidney Disorders
Neurology
Orthopedics
Urology
Some of the hospitals on the list specialized in a single area of care, such as St. Jude's hospital, while others excelled in multiple areas. All ten hospitals on this list provide a valuable service to the community by their commitment to the care of our children. Other children's hospitals around the country also strive to provide the highest quality of care possible and their efforts are to be commended.
