Just as in medicine there are sizeable ongoing expenses in this line of work. And just as in medicine, malpractice insurance is not even an option-it's a necessity. For Chiropractors, it's quite a bit less than for physicians, but it is hefty. My brother, a doctor, pays upwards of $80,000 yearly for his medical malpractice insurance. But chiropracty is not invasive, so the insurance for these practitioners is much less. Expenses in setting up a practice or for going in with another clinic should be weighed before embarking on education for this line of work. And licensing, state-required educational follow-up and bookkeeping expenses are all part of this popular occupation too. All the educational institutions listed below can help in figuring costs, assisting with payment plans for education and even with employment options after state certification.

Established in 1908, the Texas Chiropractic College is located in Pasadena, Texas, and is the third oldest Chiropractic College in the nation. It is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and by the Council on Chiropractic Education. Its campus is conveniently just 15 minutes southeast of downtown Houston. They have students from all over the world and also offer B.S. degrees in Public health and in Human Biology. Their course for training for the license usually takes 3.5 years. Prospective students must have 90 hours of coursework with some specific course requirements, good academic standing and a GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4-point scale. They offer financial aid and have some special programs too. Contact them by phone or go for a visit on their tour days.

Parker college of Chiropractice is dedicated to the idea of training people in the wholistic medicine arts. They have a school of massage therapy as well as the chiropractic school. It is located in Dallas and the college offers a 9-trimester course for certification as Dr. of Chiropracty, which can be completed in 3 years. The cost of course work is $7,500 but there are quite a few other fees necessary as well. I would contact them regarding any forms of tuition or assistance they can help prospective students with. There is contact information on the web site, or you can call them at the toll-free number below.

Cleveland Chiropractic College has two campuses--one in Kansas City; the other in Los Angeles, CA. The California campus offers degrees in chiropracty, in biological sciences, and a B.S in Human Biology. Applicants must have a cumulative CPA of 2.5 and 90 hours of course work at the college level, with certain curriculum areas required. A D.C. degree costs $274 per credit hour with many additional fees involved. They do have financial assistance at a student aid office. The standard length of study is 4 years. It would be wise to compare their pricing and training with the Texas Colleges mentioned above to get a good overview of what costs will deliver the best training weighted with all other personal considerations like location, cost of either dorm or housing expenses, among other things.
