Another food and wine meal to serve with chicken is a Cabernet Sauvignon with a tomato basil dish. This meal is very robust and is a must serve on a weekly basis. The amount of garlic, tomato and basil in this pasta dish offers strong Italian flavors and make pairing with a good Cabernet a delightful dining experience. I recommend serving Kathryn Hall Cabernet Sauvignon '05 with your chicken and pasta tomato base. The rustic deep red and black fruits of this wine offer a light sweet oak flavor that enhances the tomato and chicken dish with a very pleasing accent on the palate.
Barbecuing chicken is an all time favorite and requires a little bit of attention when making a decision on what type of wine to buy. Serving wine with a chicken barbecue dish requires a red wine with bold flavors; most chicken made on the grill is covered in our favorite sauces, glazes and marinades. When choosing a red wine I look for a quality California type such as Treana Red Wine from Paso Robles. This red offers the bold flavors you need for meats off the grill and works very well with all your grilling delights and salads. The unique flavors of Treana have a huge rich berry and licorice flavor with small hints of chocolate and smoky rustic oak and cinnamon. This wine is usually priced around $40 and is well worth the cost for any grilling occasion.
Chicken Parmesan is a hard dish not to mention, so I am making sure not to leave it out of my food and wine pairing review here. Honestly I enjoy a good chardonnay or a good red wine with this dish. It's just a matter of preference when serving this tasty meal. A classic Chianti wine is always preferred but anyone of the other wine's I have previously mentioned would make great match. My favorite chicken parmesan is very simple and only takes less than 30 minutes to make you can find the recipe here. Serve this delicious meal on top of a big hearty plate of spaghetti and you will have the best tasting Chicken Parmesan ever.
