"Christmas Clue Game" is a Christmas party game for kids that asks only that we use our minds. I'll be in charge here, and you the reader can simply enjoy the conversation:
Me: "Kids. Hey, kids. Let's gather 'round and play a Christmas game for children."
Several moments pass, as the children continue horsing around.
Me :"Hey, kids, c'mon. Grandpa's supposed to be in charge here. Let's gather 'round and play a Christmas game for children."
Several more moments pass, as the children still are goofing off..
Me: "Hey, kids. Let's gather 'round and play a Christmas game for children, and then Grandpa will take you to Mickey D's for Happy Meals."
Suddenly, the children gather eagerly.
Me: "Okay, you little lolligaggers, you sure do know how to work the system. Let's play 'Christmas Clue Game.' I'm thinking about Christmas, and I'll give you some clues, and we will see if you can guess who I'm thinking about. So tell me, Christmas is coming, and who am I thinking about?"
Angelica: "Are you thinking of the Baby Jesus?"
Me: "Angelica, Grandpa is sort of embarrassed, because Grandpa should have been thinking of the Baby Jesus, but Grandpa's mind has sort of drifted upon the commercial aspect of Christmas."
Buster: "Huh?"
Me: "The birth of the Baby Jesus is the most important aspect of Christmas, but we also are allowed to have fun and to think about toys, and for right now, God says it's okay to think about the toys for a little while, and so I'm thinking about the toys."
GiGi: "Grandpa, I'll bet you're thinking of Santa Claus."
Me: "Yeah, well, GiGi, this has to do with Santa Claus, but not Santa himself. That would be too easy. You little RugRats are going to have to earn those Happy Meals."
Angelica: "Well, then, are you thinking of Mrs. Claus?"
Me: "Sorry, not Mrs. Claus, even though I don't mean to be a chauvenist."
Buster: "Huh?"
Me: "Well, another clue, Grandpa is thinking more about Santa's transportation."
GiGi: "Grandpa, I'll bet you're thinking of Santa's sleigh."
Me: "Good guess, GiGi, still a little too easy, but at least Grandpa will award you the double chicken nuggets."
Buster: "The reindeer, Grandpa, you're thinking about the reindeer."
Me: "Good Buster, you're getting closer, but which reindeer?"
Angelica: "Grandpa! It's got to be Rudolph, because Rudolph has a red nose, just like you!"
..... Okay, so you have a concept of how to play the Christmas Clue Game. Here are three other Christmas party games for kids:
Christmas Stocking Balance Relay
We need a decent size room for this particular children's Christmas party game. We form two teams, with a bowl of candy in between. Each team gets a spoon. Kid by kid, the children race across the room and dump the candy into their respective teams' Christmas stocking. The trick is, the kids have to carry the candy in the spoon. This tests their physical coordination and their awareness of the old saying, "Haste makes waste."
Christmas Jingle Bell Rock
This one is simple, but giggles are guaranteed. We simply play Christmas music while the kids dance. When we holler "freeze," they have to freeze in whatever foolish positions they may find themselves. One prize-winner is the frozen kid who looks the most foolish, and another prize-winner is the kid who's the last one to giggle.
Christmas Word Find
Grandpa now needs a rest. Each child is given a pencil and paper, and is directed to be totally quiet. Each child then is directed to find and write as many smaller words as possible from the sentence, "Grandfather buys a red and white Christmas poinsettia for Grandmother."
That ought to hold 'em for a while!
