Best Christmas Gift Ideas for Mom

Anne Chekal
As both a mother and daughter, I know how difficult finding the perfect Christmas gift for Mom can be. We are likely to say "I don't need anything," but a thoughtful gift is a fitting thank you for all Moms do throughout the year. Try these suggestions.

Spa Certificate

A gift certificate for a pamper treatment is an excellent Christmas gift for Mom. No matter what the age of her children, an hour to herself is a priceless gift for a mother. If that hour is spent in a spa treatment, all the better.

Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa offers a range of massages, facials, manicures, and pedicures. Available as a package or a la carte, one hour treatments start at $100 for signature services. Red Door is only one option so look around for spas near you.

Anthropologie.com

Check out this site to spark your imagination for a unique and different Christmas gift for Mom. Anthropologie sells everything from clothes to jewelry to accessories to home décor. Accordingly, the price range will fit into just about any budget.

The items on the Anthropologie site are funky, functional, and beautiful - all adjectives that tell Mom that's how you see her. This site is also offering free shipping for all orders placed through December 19.

Slippers

Whether warm and fuzzy or of the Cinderella variety, slippers are an excellent gift for Mom. Slippers are inexpensive and widely available, and what woman doesn't enjoy a new pair of shoes.

New slippers will ensure that her feet look and feel fabulous when she is on them all day. Be sure to check her shoe size to be sure you get the right fit. And have fun with the selection - pseudo ballet flats, leopard prints, or traditional moccasins all speak to her personality.

Magazine Subscription

Instead of a gift certificate, give her a magazine subscription that matches her interests. Gardening magazines, cooking magazines, celebrity gossip, and women's issues magazines are all good Christmas gift ideas for mothers. They range in price from $10 and up for a year's subscription.

One caveat for a magazine gift subscription is to avoid a parenting magazine. This should be a gift for her and about her, not the children to who she likely devotes most of her energy.

Chocolate

When purchasing chocolate as a Christmas gift for Mom, think outside of the Whitaker's box and try to focus on what she likes. Dark chocolate, milk chocolate, nuts, caramel, you get the idea.

Just about all of the candy makers sell "deluxe" chocolates that are available in grocery stores and box stores including Hershey's and Lindt's. Or else upgrade to a gourmet like Godiva for something special.

These gift ideas let her know you appreciate her and pay attention to what she likes.

I'm a huge fan of magazines and would love to spend a day at a spa, too. Sounds lovely!
