Best Christmas Gifts for Women: Ways to Make Her Feel Special

Heather Belle
Women can be difficult to shop for and coming up with Christmas gift ideas can pose a problem for men, children, and even women themselves. Christmas gifts for women can be very simple to purchase though if you just sit down and put some thought in to it; what does she like to do on a daily basis? What are some important aspects in her life? These questions can lead to some very memorable and cherished Christmas gifts.

Relive a Date Night - If you are a boyfriend, fiancé, or husband that finds yourself completely stumped as to what to give the lady in your life for Christmas, think back to your first date. Did you go to a movie? A certain restaurant? Write out every detail of that first date together and then, as a gift, relive it with her. If you ate at a specific restaurant, go and buy a gift card to that restaurant. If you followed up that meal with a movie but do not yet own that movie, go and buy the DVD. Then, wrap it together and write out something special about why that first date meant a lot to you; if you can remember details, that would make this Christmas gift even more perfect. Tell her to wear a sweater or shirt that resembled the one she wore the first night; be specific as possible.

On the night of your re-lived date, try and wear something that resembles what you wore on the original date. Take her to the restaurant for dinner, go home, curl up together, and watch the DVD. Or, go out and do whatever it is you did on your first date (putt-putt, a bar, etc.) All women love romantic gestures like this, and there is no way to go wrong by showing the woman you love that you remember important aspects of your relationship.

Photo Book - A great Christmas gift for the mom and/or grandma in your life is a photo book. The days of old photo albums with individually placed pictures are quickly being replaced by custom made, hardcover photo books. All moms and grandmas love to show off pictures of their children/grandchildren; so, this is a great Christmas gift for women.

I highly recommend using MyPublisher (www.mypublisher.com) to make a book; their basic book - 11.25"x8.75" - is $29.80 (without tax and shipping.) But, they are currently running a special; if you sign up for their email/make an account, they will send you a code for a "buy one book, get a second copy of the same book free" promotion. This is a great deal if you have more than one woman in your life that would love to have a book.

This project can be a bit time consuming, so make sure you give yourself plenty of time to work on the book and order it prior to Christmas. When I've made these books through MyPublisher, it typically takes me an hour or two to pick out my pictures, and another couple of hours to arrange them exactly like I want them to look. You can also write small phrases or stories to go along with the pictures! This is a great customized gift that will truly be appreciated as a Christmas gift!

(If you do not want to order from MyPublisher, most major photography sites offer these books - Shutterfly, Snapfish, etc. And, you can also check out places like Walgreens and CVS if you're on a time crunch; their turn-around-time is much quicker than ordering from an internet-only locale.)

Relaxation Time - If there is an important woman in your life that you would like to make feel special this Christmas, some time at a local spa is always appreciated. Google spas in your area, or hint around and find out if there is somewhere specific that she likes to go. Then, go to that location and buy a gift card/certificate. If you are on a budget, price out a manicure and/or pedicure. Even if you can not afford a massage, any relaxation time is greatly appreciated by all women.

To make this gift an even more special Christmas gift, go to Wal-Mart, Target, Ross, etc. and pick up a bath robe and set of slippers. You can box those items up, place the gift card on top (inside the box), and wrap it. This way, she will be able to go pamper herself for a bit, come home, put on her new robe and slippers, and relax for the rest of the day. Or, if you want to go all out, you can add lotions, at-home spa treatments, etc. to the robe and slippers for a special treat!

Sex and the City Basket - Women love their girlfriends and enjoy spending any time they can with them. So, if you have a busy, stressed out woman in your life, this is a great Christmas gift idea. Sex and the City is a hit on most women's T.V./movie list, and makes for a great watch with the girlfriends.

If you have the extra money, you can buy the entire Sex and the City T.V. series on DVD, or you can go out and buy the movie (for around $20.00 anywhere where DVDs are sold.) While you are out, go pick up some popcorn, wine, chocolate, and any other treats the lady in your life will enjoy. Also, grab a girly basket (something pink, with crystals, ribbon, etc.) and some fun tissue paper (polka dots, floral, etc.) Arrange all of your items neatly in the basket and include a card that she is to host a girl's day/night at her place to spend some down time with her girlfriends. This is especially a great Christmas gift if you have children and your significant other does not have a lot of extra time to spend with her friends. If you want to include a gift card for pizza, Chinese, etc. so they can order in when they're hanging out, that is a great extra touch!

Poetry - With many people on a tight budget this year, homemade gifts are the way to go and can make a great Christmas gift. Women love anything sentimental and will truly appreciate the work you put in to what you do. What better way to show that lady in your life that you care than to write her a poem?

You do not have to be a great writer to write something wonderful; jot down some thoughts and ideas. Then, simply write them down in poetry form; remember, poems do not have to rhyme! If you like, you can print your poem on a piece of pretty paper and frame it; that way, she can put it somewhere to show off. This is also a great gift from the kids; all moms love to display special things that their children do for them!

Shopping for women's Christmas gifts can seem overwhelming at first, but it is a very simple thing to do. Just focus on what the woman you are shopping for enjoys in her day-to-day life and figure out ways to make those things even more enjoyable for her at Christmas time!
