Christmas Light Displays and Family Holiday Fun
Neighborhood: North Texas
Plano, Dallas, Frisco, Arlington, TX 00000
United States of America
Driving around in the car with the kids and looking at Christmas light displays and decorations is one of my favorite memories. It doesn't cost anything but a little bit of gas, so it's like entertaining the entire family for free.

North Texas has a great selection of neighborhoods to choose from when it comes to holiday light displays and decorations. These are some of my top choices.

The booming town of Frisco is home to the largest choreographed lights and holiday music display in Texas. Visitors can see the spectacular presentation nightly during the month of December. There are many family fun activities to partake in as well, such as a trackless train, a model train display, snow machine, and carriage rides. Enjoy this event nightly through the month of December. To get to the Frisco Square, go to the intersection of the Dallas North Tollway and Main Street. Admission is free for the light show and carriage rides are $6.00 per person. For more information call (469)-633-1721.

On December 13 and 14 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM grab the family and head out to Leonhardt Lagoon located inside Fair Park in Dallas. This family friendly event includes gorgeous holiday lights and music, free admission to the Airport museums, holiday movies shown on the field of the Cotton Bowl, pictures with Santa, horse drawn carriages, hayrides, train rides and tubing down a snow hill.

The Deerfield neighborhood in Plano is home to one of Collin County's biggest neighborhood holiday light displays. There are lights and yard displays at just about every house in this area. The Deerfield is located between Preston and Coit Road. Kids will be thrilled by appearances from Santa on Saturdays from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. There's also a carriage service available for carriage rides, but the rides aren't free. Prices are $85.00 per half hour and $135.00 per hour for up to ten people. Admission to the driving light tour is free. All you need is your car and family or friends to enjoy the beauty.

The Highland Park area of Dallas Texas also has a fabulous holiday light display every night through New Year's. Highland Park spans a wide area south of Mockingbird Lane and west of Hillcrest Road. Visitors will be able to view huge homes drenched with Christmas lights, animated yard decorations, and large trees and shrubs covered in lights. You can drive through the tour in your own car or take one of the carriage tour rides. Admission is free when you ride in your own car but the carriages charge a fee.

The Interlochen area of Arlington, Texas is one of the largest light displays in north Texas. Interlochen is located between I30 and West Division Street, just off of West Randoll Mill Road. The entrance to the self-guided driving tour is off Randoll Mill Road at Westwood Drive. The experience starts in the middle of December and ends on Christmas. So don't miss the chance to gather the kids and head out to witness the splendor and beauty of over 200 homes skillfully decorated with Christmas lights and holiday decorations. The lights glisten off the numerous ponds and fountains located throughout the neighborhood. Admission is free.
