Tanglewood Park's Festival of Lights, is located just west of Winston-Salem in a 1,300-acre park. This holiday treat is one of North Carolina's largest and most spectacular Christmas light displays. A multitude of holiday themes are displayed through a drive-thru lightshow that is now in its 14th season. Over one hundred displays total with close to a million lights. This event also features hay rides, snack stands, bon fire, and a gift shop. It's opened nightly through January 1st, 2007 from 6:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. Admission is based on car load and is $9 and up. If you are looking for an event that will bring you back to the past try visiting Old Salem for a Christmas by Candlelight guided tour. The tours are each a half-hour and reservations are required. The Christmas Castle is a family event offering a magical Christmas experience you won't want to miss. Castle McCulloch presents an around the world themed Christmas celebration with 8 ½ acres of lighted trails in an enchanted forest. Children can also talk with Santa, visit with his elves, or listen to Santa's Christmas tree sing songs about the season. You might also catch a glimpse of the grinch. They also have live performers. The Greensboro Parks & Recreation Department and the Tarheel Triad Girl Scout Council will be hosting a Candlefest at the Greensboro Arboretum, off West Market Street & Wendover Avenue on December 2nd, 2006 from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. It will be a spectacular holiday luminary display with over 3,500 luminaries lined along the garden's paved walkways. The holiday event will also include carolers, music, horse-drawn carriage rides, hot chocolate, cider, and more. Admission is free.
