Barre, MA 01005
Through the generosity of the Barre Business Association and the hard work of many town volunteers, the Barre common is spectacularly decorated with thousands of white Christmas lights, decorations, and Christmas trees. The Bandstand on the common is the focal point of the town's Christmas light display, illuminating the Barre common with yesteryear charm.
The Christmas light display on the Barre town common will be illuminated on Saturday, November 25 when Santa Claus is ushered into town in a Santa Parade starting at Ruggles Lane Elementary School and finishing on the town common where Santa will flip the switch. This year's Santa Parade will have a 'Snowman' theme. Christmas revelers are encouraged to show their creativity and dress up in a Christmas costume or enter a float. Spirited pets are welcome to march with their owners, on a leash, in holiday style, too. Santa parade participants should begin assembling in the Ruggles Lane School parking lot at 3:15 on November 25; the parade steps off at 4:00 p.m. and will end on the common around 4:15. Information requests for the Barre town Santa Parade should be directed to (978) 355-3050.
From the Barre town common, you will want to head out and take a leisurely cruise around the town to take in the interesting and creative Christmas light displays at the many homes participating in the annual Barre House Decorating Competition.
Participating homes will compete for the honor of being Barre, Massachusetts top Christmas light and decoration display in one of four categories. House decorating prizes will be awarded in the categories of Most Spectacular, Most Original, Most Elegant, and Most Fun.
On your drive to see the beautiful Christmas light displays of Barre, be sure to travel up route 122 out of the center and take in the beauty of the Harding-Allen Estate, last year's "Best Dressed Business" decorating contest winner. Cruise South Barre and the remainder of the business districts, as competition will be dazzling in the attempts of the remaining town businesses to de-thrown the reigning Queen of business Christmas light displays.
For residents and businesses interested in entering the town of Barre Christmas decorating contest, entry forms are now available in local stores. Judging will take place on December 14 and 15, and homes and businesses located on or near Barre common are asked to decorate with only white lights to coordinate with the town's Christmas light display on the common. The house decorating committee would love to see white candle lights in the windows of these properties, as well.
Winners of the Christmas decorating contest and the "Best Dressed Business" will be honored during the open house at the Harding-Allen Estate on December 17.
For more information on the Christmas in Barre House Decorating Contest and participating displays, residents may contact Grace Gugliotti at the Harding-Allen Estate at (978) 355-4920, or through the business's website at www.harding-allen.com.
