Best Christmas Rock Songs: Some Merry and Some Sad

Top 30 Rock N' Roll Christmas Songs for Your MP3 Christmas Playlist

Aly Adair
It is hard to get away from the traditional, classic Christmas Carols that represent everything reverent about the birth of Jesus Christ and celebrating what is good in the World. I melt like butter every time I play the Christmas songs from the Noel Christmas album and hear Josh Groban ringing out Noel and Ave Maria like an Angel from Heaven. I cry when I listen to Silent Night while looking at the Salt Lake City Temple Square Christmas Lights in this slideshow. That traditional Christmas Carol was my Mom and Dad's favorite Christmas song and I miss them since they passed. They loved Christmas time.

So, I spin the iPod wheel and pick the Rock N' Roll Christmas Song playlist for a little boost of fun and laughter at the holidays. Just a word of warning, though. Not all of my Rock N' Roll Christmas songs are happy ones, even though they are my favorite ones. Remember the song Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24) by Trans-Siberian Orchestra? Wow, those holiday songs about war, suffering, and lonely heartbreak will make you cry, too. Nevertheless, Christmas is a time to remember the less fortunate ones and some of these Rock N' Roll legends don't let us forget that.

You may not remember American Idol favorite, Kimberley Locke, but In 2006, Kimberley Locke had a #1 hit on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart with her recording of the great Christmas Classic Jingle Bells. Oddly enough, Jingle Bells was not written to be a Christmas Song. Most of you are probably too young to remember that Jingle Bells was the first Christmas song broadcast from outer Space and was used in a prank by the Gemini 6 astronauts to Mission Control on December 16, 1965. Of course, I have the barking dogs version of Jingle Bells on my MP3 player. Here is my MP3 playlist of favorite Rock Christmas Songs . Merry Rockin' Christmas!

What a blend of Christmas songs and an excellent variety. I don't know if you've been away but it seems like I've missed your work. I'm going to check to see if you have more that I've missed. Super compilation!
