Best Cities for St. Patrick's Day Celebrations

Where to Go for the Best of Green Beer, Live Irish Events, and St. Patrick's Day Parties

St. Patrick's Day may be the biggest drinking holiday of the year; at least one in which drinking is a major part of the holiday. St. Patrick's Day is big in just about any Irish pub anywhere, but in the USA, there are a few cities who take St. Patrick's Day more seriously than most, complete with green beer, green beads, and green bikini-clad hostesses serving up St. Patrick's day fun.

Las Vegas

Every year, the gigantic pub McFadden's takes the cake for Las Vegas St. Patrick's Day celebrations. In 2010, McFadden's will be having a St. Patrick's Day pre-party which occurs on the Saturday before St. Paddy's Day, and then another celebration on St. Patrick's Day. McFadden's features live music for just such a traditional occasion, partying on St. Patrick's Day to the same songs as your ancestors.

Boston

In the day, St. Patrick's Day gifts are a big deal in Boston offices and schools. At night and on both weekends surrounding St. Patrick's Day, a number of pubs all around Boston blow out with Paddy's Day festivities including green beer, traditional Irish music and traditional Irish food, if they serve it. This means potatoes, people. Lots of them. On the Sunday before St. Patrick's Day, Boston holds three, count them, three parades around the city. Police plan a crackdown on public drinking in Boston St. Patrick's Day festivals in 2010, so be sure to arrange for a ride home to avoid a nasty and expensive DUI.

Philadelphia

The popular television show "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" features a pub which likely gets as rocking on St. Patrick's Day as any other pub in the city. The home of the Phillies pops off on St. Patrick's Day with a number of parades and festivals and nighttime partying in pubs all over the city. The top Irish pub for St. Patrick's Day in Philadelphia is Fado Philadelphia. Fado is a real pub, featuresing soccer and rugby championships on TV and live music on Thursday nights. Fado's will be holding St. Patrick's Day events all week featuring rugby championships, parades, live music and a Guinness pouring contest.
