According to CNN money, the number one company to work for is Genentech. There are also a hundred other employers that made the best list, however, Genentech won the prize.

Genentech currently experiences 20% job growth and employs 8,121 Americans. It is a mid-sized company located in South San Francisco and specializes in Biotechnology. Genentech is great because it focuses on fighting cancer. It also has great benefits and 95% of its workers are share holders. The most common jobs for Gegentech are Research Associates and Mfg Technicians and there are approximately 1300 new jobs each year. Applicants for these jobs include 246,000.

Number two on the list of America's top companies is Wegmans Food Markets. Wegmans is a privately owned grocery chain based in Rochester New York. Wegmans is great because they recently flew all new full time employees to Rochester to meet the CEO, Danny Wegman.

Wegmans currently employs nearly 32,000 Americans with 723 new jobs each year and 127,588 applicants.

Number three on the list is Valero Energy based in San Antonio, TX. Valero is a Petroleum Refining Industry that employs 16,582 Americans and 4,393 employees outside the U.S.

Valero is noteworthy because of the way they handled the recovery efforts of Hurricane Katrina and Rita. Valero dispatched semis filled with supplies and set up temporary housing for their employees. The company also fed volunteers and donated $1 million to Red Cross.

It is known for its quality patient care and even though it pays its employees 5-7% less than other local hospitals, Griffin is appreciated for its values. The hospital employs 1,049 American employees, 78% are women. The hospital only has about 11 new jobs each year with 5,107 applicants. The most common job is to be a registered nurse, earning approximately $64,000 a year.
Number five on the list is W.L. Gore & Associates. This company is in Newark, Delaware and makes fabrics, Elixir guitar strings, and Glide dental floss. The company has no bosses, job titles or organization charts.

W.L. Gore employs 4,537 U.S. Employees and 2.247 employees outside the U.S. The company has 261 openings per year with over 37,000 applicants.

Number six on the list is Container Store, located in Coppell, TX. Container Store is great because it is a storage retailer where part-timers can receive bonuses. Drivers are also rewarded for long service and safe driving records. The company employs 2,857 U.S. citizens and 400 employees outside the U.S. borders.

Vision Service Plan is number seven on the list moving up three spots from 2005. This company based in Rancho Cordova, CA is focused on Health Care. It is a not-for-profit eye-care-insurance firm. Number seven is the J.M. Smucker company out of Orrville, Ohio. The 109 year old company is still sweet and job applicants are interviewed by employees.

Number ten is S.C. Johnson in Racine Wisconsin. The company specializing in general merchandise has a devoted workforce and includes profit sharing. The company employs 3,404 U.S. employees and over 8,000 non U.S. residents. The most common job is Associate production.
