Best Concealers for Rosacea

If you suffer from rosacea, you know to avoid alcohol, excessive sun, spicy foods and cold sharp winds, but no matter how careful you are, there are times when you rosacea will flare. Many makeup companies have special redness-reducing green concealers that claim to minimize the appearance of rosacea and acne, but which ones are most effective?

Physicians Formula Gentle Cover Concealer Stick-This green concealer is packaged in a lipstick like tube. It is easy for spot applications, but it can go on thick and be difficult to blend. It is hard to cover the large patches of rosacea that often appear on the cheeks and chin without the concealer looking cakey. It does provide good coverage for acne, but a light hand and good blending is a must to prevent the green from bleeding through your foundation.

Corrector Concealer by Maybelline- This product also comes in stick form, but the green is a lighter shade and the it is oil based so it glides on a little smoother. Because it is a stick, it is hard to cover a large sized flare up, but is nice for small flares and acne. Even with the lighter shade it does need to be covered with foundation, but it has a low probability of foundation bleed through.

Eucerin Tone Perfecting Cream- This product is part of Eucerin's Redness relief line. It is a cream packaged in a tube with a sponge tipped applicator. It can be used for medium sized green patches, but it is not good for larger areas. For larger areas of redness, Eucerin's Daily Perfecting Lotion has a slight green tint that can minimize redness without heavy green coverage.

Everyday Minerals Mint Concealer- Like all mineral makeups, EM's Mint Concealer is a loose powder. If it is applied to a small area with a concealer brush, it provides heavy coverage of small blemishes. Makeup must be applied over it and there can be some bleed through if it is heavily applied. By using a powder brush, a light dusting can be applied to the entire face to tone down rosacea or sunburn related redness. It is sheer and does not leave a noticeable green tint, so it is able to be worn without foundation.

If you've kept away from rosacea triggers, but still find yourself with rosacea patches on your skin, the proper concealer can help minimize the condition and leave you ready to face the world.

I have been suffering with the occasional redness on my face for a couple of years. My face would look like it was sunburned. I had to cover up with lots of heavy makeup and it felt awful. Finally made the appointment to see my doctor when I couldn't stand it anymore.

The doctor gave me 2 different perscriptions for gels and ointments. They seemed to work but it took weeks to see any results and my face still had to be covered with makeup to hide the redness. I bought the Shielo Complexion Moisturizer after reading some of the reviews and decided this would be cheaper than another $25.00 doctor visit plus the cost of more of the same expensive creams. I gave it a shot.

Boy, was I surprised. The burning stopped with the very first application and the redness was greatly reduced overnight. I no longer have the dryness that the other ointments caused.
After just 2 or 3 days, my face was back to normal and even my husband was amazed at the quick improvement. Going to be keepi

That was "bleeding through your foundation" and it was just as appropriate! :)

Well I think the phrase "bleeding through the foundation" is fitting. In fact, when I read this phrase I wished I had come up with it! Beautiful article!

"bleeding through your foundation"? If the author can't write such a review for both sexes, maybe she shouldn't write one at all. Eucerin "Daily perfecting lotion" is more of a tinted makeup base than a concealer. It is almost incapable of concealing a single blemish or intense red spot, for example. Eucerin does make a Redness Reducing Concealer, which is a true concealer - but the author doesn't seem aware of its existence. You wonder how many other true concealers the author is unaware of.
