Best Co-Sleeping Products for Comfort and Safety

Sarah Rachel
When I was pregnant with my first son I actually thought I would never allow my children to sleep in bed with my husband and myself. Well, that soon changed after he was born for various reasons. At first I fought the idea of co-sleeping and continually went back and forth to nurse the baby into the night. Yet after a short time I found that I was really exhausted and I wasn't really enjoying my baby. I also missed him when was away from me, and he seemed to do so much better when he was right there in bed with me. It made breastfeeding easier and we all seemed to sleep well. I enjoyed the closeness and my husband was very supportive.

After I gave in and decided to allow my son to sleep in our bed I started reading more about attachment parenting and I found that this style of parenting was actually perfect for our family, and we made the choice to co-sleep with our new baby also, and we plan on co-sleeping if we have more children in the future. However, at the same time I also wanted to practice safe co-sleeping, and follow the rules. There are many products available which can help to increase comfort and safety.

Snuggle Nest

The snuggle nest is great for people who want to have their babies right there in the middle of the bed, but worry about other safety hazards. Mothers instinctively know that their babies are right there while they sleep, but the same doesn't always hold true for fathers. The snuggle nest keeps the baby safe in the middle of the bed, and it even has lights to make nursing easier in the dark.

Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper Bassinet

I love the Arms reach co-sleeper bassinet. I started using this product when I had my second son in January and it is wonderful. He is safe and secure inside the little bassinet, and I am able to lean over bring him into bed for nursing, and then put him right back to go to sleep. The material is very soft yet durable. This is a must have product for keeping your baby close.

Organic Co-sleeping Pillow

This product is great because it prevents the baby from rolling off the bed. It is always best to have a guard rail or a pillow such as this which is designed specifically for co-sleeping. The nice thing about this product is that it can be also be used as a body pillow for ultimate comfort.
