Best Day Trips to Jamaica Waterfalls

Marie Michaels
Jamaica offers its visitors beautiful white sand beaches, breathtaking mountains, lush valleys, and a variety of attractions that keep us returning. Among the country's natural attractions are no less than five inviting waterfalls that beckon us to take a dip. Which waterfall calls to us the loudest might just depend on where in Jamaica we find ourselves, thus the top five Jamaica waterfalls are listed in alphabetical order.

Waterfalls of Jamaica #1
Dunn's River Falls, Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Located on the North Coast of Jamaica in Ocho Rios, Dunn's River Falls flows directly into the Caribbean Sea. Visitors can escape the heat of the Caribbean sun in the cool, running waters of the falls shaded by lush foliage. Visitors can climb the falls, take time to rest in the natural pools along the ascent, or exit along the way at one of the viewing decks. After the climb, the beach at the bottom of Dunn's River Falls provides an inviting spot to dry in the sun.

Waterfalls of Jamaica #2
Mayfield Falls, Glenbrook, Jamaica

With 23 natural pools and two waterfalls, Mayfield Falls offers lush vegetation and indigenous birds and butterflies. These waterfalls are located in the South in close proximity to Montego Bay and Negril, Jamaica in the foreground of the Dolphin Head Mountains.

Waterfalls of Jamaica #3
Reach Falls, Manchioneal, Jamaica

Reach Falls, on the Driver's River, is a largely undeveloped natural treasure located just outside of picturesque Manchioneal, a coastal town near Port Antonio, Jamaica. Reach Falls, also known as Reich Falls, provides crystal clear emerald pools, underground caves and a series of small and tall flowing cascades waiting to be explored on Jamaica's East Coast. Due to its secluded location, the chances of finding a crowd at Reach Falls is slim.

Waterfalls of Jamaica #4
Somerset Falls, Hope Bay, Jamaica

Visitors can walk along the scenic path overlooking the river before a small boat transports them through a limestone cavern to the falls. At the base of the falls, a 20-foot deep pool invites them to take a plunge. Somerset Falls is located near Port Antonio, Jamaica on the East Coast.

Waterfalls of Jamaica #5
YS Falls, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica

Located in the South about 50 miles from both Montego Bay and Negril, Jamaica, YS Falls is a breathtaking seven-tiered waterfall on a working thouroughbred and cattle estate. After climbing YS Falls or lingering in one of the inviting pools, visitors can choose to river tube, zipline over the falls, or enjoy a picnic with the sounds of the rushing cascades playing in the background.
