Best Deals from Alamo on a Disney World Trip

Disney World in Orlando Florida has a great internal transportation system for those who don't want to leave the resort property. But say you want to have a little more freedom...and you want to hit some of the other theme parks, outlet stores and restaurants off property. Then renting a car is the way to go! My family always chooses Alamo at the Orlando airport for the best prices, most consistent quality and largest selection. Over time, we have managed to rent our vehicles online for amazingly low prices by following a few simple steps.

Book as early as possible. This is your control group rental. The rental that will give you the starting range for prices during your vacation. Plug in your dates, choose your vehicle and see the starting price. Book the rental by simply entering your name and email address. There is no credit card information needed. A confirmation will be sent to your email immediately. Save this email for future use.

Start shopping for discount codes and coupons. Enter "Alamo discounts" on an Internet search engine and see what you can find. Go to popular Disney World fansites and check out any discounts or specials they may have posted. Hit the Disney message boards and see where everyone else is finding their codes. We have narrowed our discounts down to a few we use every trip, and asking and checking around can really get you some great deals. Finally, click on the "hot deals" tab on Alamo.com to see what they have to offer. You can find weekend deals, coupons, and specials throughout the year.

Be flexible with your choice of car. When gas prices go up, you may find Intermediate SUV's and regular SUV's will have lower prices than economy, intermediate and full sized cars. Be flexible. That Intermediate SUV or "SUV Lite" as we like to call it, will give you a little extra room for a lot less money.

Change your rental times. Use your discounts to check prices on a rental, and then go back and look at the pickup time you selected. We have saved upwards of $200.00 on a rental using identical dates, but changing the 12:00 noon pickup time to 2:00 pm. Try a few different combinations of pickup and drop off times. You may be surprised by what you find.

Check back frequently. Once you have picked the size of cars you prefer, added a great discount and played with the pickup and drop off times, don't be satisfied with your price! Check back often at different times to see if Alamo has added additional coupons or discounts, or changed prices. Rental prices fluctuate as often as airline tickets, and in this case the consumer can take advantage of frequent checking. Make sure you cancel your previous rental reservation when making another one.

Doing a little homework to check out discounts and coupons can save you a lot of money, but checking back often to see price changes can make a huge difference. Make sure you book as soon as there is a lower price available...because those prices will go back up again, too. The convenience of online reservations can also save you some cash. Alamo often offers an addition 10% off to clients who want to pre pay for their car, but sometimes the 10% off price can be higher than the original price without the discount. Investing time to try different combinations of times, discounts, and sometimes even dates can make the difference between a big rental bill and having a lot of extra cash to spend on the best part of your vacation: the fun!
