Best of the Decade 2010 New Year's Eve Party Songs: Top Songs of 2006

Aida Ekberg
We're getting closer to the end of the decade in my countdown of the best songs of the past decade for making a 2010 New Year's Eve party hot! Sure the best songs of 2006 are still pretty fresh on your mind, but it still would be fun to rewind just a bit at your 2010 New Year's Eve party by playing some of the best songs of the past decade from 2006 (for the best songs of 2005 for a 2010 New Year's Eve party, check out this list). From a grown-up Justin Timerlake to sexy song by his female pop tart counterpart, the best songs of the past decade from 2006 will take your 2010 New Year's Eve party guests on a short but funky trip on the memory lane train:

Sexyback by Justin Timberlake - This is one of the most surprising hit songs of the past decade, as it's hard to overcome that bad boy band image when your young female fans grow up. But you can bring sexy back at your 2010 New Year's Eve party by playing one of the sexiest songs of the past decade, and honor JT's amazing pop music achievement (and get everyone out on the dance floor at your 2010 New Year's Eve party busting out some of their best boy band-style dance moves of the past decade).

Grillz by Nelly Featuring Paul Wall, Ali & Gipp - Remember when grillz were all the rage? Whip out your best pair of iced-out tooth wear and get down and dirty to one of the best dance songs of the past decade for playing at your 2010 New Year's Eve party. This is one of the best songs of the decade for reminiscing about one of the craziest fads of 2006, and I'm sure there are those at your 2010 New Year's Eve party who will be making resolutions not to fall prey to any crazy fads of the next decade.

London Bridge by Fergie - And here's one of the best silly songs of the past decade, courtesy of Fergie and her ingenuous way with words. She took a little children's ditty and turned it into something dirty, and while it's not one of the best songs of the past decade, it's so silly that you've got to play it at your 2010 New Year's Eve party just for kicks and giggles.

Hips Don't Lie by Shakira Featuring Wyclef Jean - If you're looking for the best sexy dance songs of the decade to put on your 2010 New Year's party playlist, don't forget this tune by everyone's favorite rubber-hipped crooner. This is one of the best songs of the past decade to get girls out on the dance floor seeing who can imitate Shakira the best, and one that you've got to play at your 2010 New Year's Eve party for the ladies that love to show off their best belly dancer moves.

SOS by Rihanna - It turns out that Rihanna really was sending out an SOS later on in the decade, but she had no idea of the terrible ordeal she was about to go through back in 2006 when she released one of the best dance songs of the year. But as one of the best female artists of the last decade with loads of the best songs, celebrate this cute firecracker's amazing career over the past ten years by playing one of her best at your 2010 New Year's Eve party.

Temperature by Sean Paul - And here's another of the best hip-shakin songs perfect for helping everyone warm up at your 2010 New Year's Eve party. It may be cold outside, but the dance floor at your New Year's Eve party will be hot if you play one of the most sizzling songs of the past decade.

Crazy by Gnarls Barkley - This soulful-sounding song is one of the more unique songs of the past decade on this list, and one that's perfect for playing at your 2010 New Year's Eve party for slowing things down a bit. It may not be as crazy as some of the other songs on this list, but it's definitely one of my favorites of the past decade, and one that you must add to your 2010 New Year's Eve party playlist because it's one of those slow songs perfect for reminiscing to.

Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield - And here's one of the most overplayed songs of the past decade, but one you've got to play at your 2010 New Year's Eve party for the optimistic, upbeat female crowd that loves to sing along with empowering songs on the radio (as well as for the girls that love 'The Hills'). And then you can make a resolution at your 2010 New Year's Eve party to never play this song again.

Ain't no Other Man by Christina Aguilera - This is definitely one of the best songs of the decade due to Christina's amazing vocals and it's unique way of capturing that classic old school glamour with a modern flare. It may be one of the harder songs on this list to dance to, but it's so much sexy fun that you've got to play it at your 2010 New Year's Eve party.

Bossy by Kelis Featuring Too $hort - Here's one of my favorite songs of the past decade for us women that are proud of being in control. Kelis reminds us that that she's just bossy (not any other not-so-nice terms one might come up with for pushy women). It's one of those songs you've got to play at your 2010 New Year's Eve party to get a few laughs, and the girls will love singing along to one of the loudest, proudest songs about girl power of the past decade.

So from sexy songs by grown-up bubblegum pop stars to some of the best dance songs of the past decade and a few truly unique hits, hopefully the best songs of the decade here will make your 2010 New Year's Eve party a crazy and unforgettable way to end the decade.
