In Kohala, north of the Kawaihe Harbor, is a shore dive called Crystal Cove. It is about a four minute walk on a lava road to the cove entry. The cove depth is about forty feet and is home to some beautiful coral. The fish are colorful and plentiful, be sure to bring your underwater camera. Crystal Cove is usually quiet unless a boat has anchored, so enjoy the solitude.
Also in Kohala off of Highway 19 is the favorite dive spot, Puako Village End. This is a popular diving spot for the locals too, so it tends to be a little busy. There are caverns, arches and many small caves to explore. This is an adventure divers dream.
The southern tip of the Big Island, called South Point, offers great diving for treasure hunters. The seas can be rough, so it is best to go in the winter time, when to water tends to be calmer. The dive promises many sea wrecks to explore along with a plethora of fish.
