Best Dog Parks in Albuquerque, New Mexico

Roosevelt, USS Bullhead and Hyder Park

Esper_D
Albuquerque has plenty of parks available to the public and about a dozen available as dog parks as well. Be aware that each of these parks are also shared by the public community, including children. While the CABQ website does include a warning to parents that dogs my roam free, this could be something you'll want to look out for as a dog owner. Check out their website for more hours on rules and regulations. Each dog park is open from 6-10 daily.

Roosevelt Park:

This is a really beautiful park ever since they renovated it by putting in new grass, a nicer path for walking, park benches and tables and so much more. This is a very large park with nice rolling hills for dogs to run up and down. You can even take him along the path and through the trees. I have even seen people bring their pet roosters here for walks, for some reason. It's a really beautiful place to spend an afternoon, with both sunny and shady spots available. There is even a water fountain near the playground if you need to fill up your dog's water dish.

Located on Coal, near University.

USS Bullhead Park:

Bullhead Park is a very active park for visitors. Perhaps you have the type of dog that loves to be around people and is very well-behaved. This park houses both softball leagues on a regular basis, as well as a public playground open for children. There is very little shade in the grassy area, so just be aware of this. It's not one of the most beautiful parks around but there is plenty of room to move around in, as long as there is not a soccer game occurring. There is no water available here, so be sure to bring your own. There is plenty of parking, though.

Located on San Pedro, near Gibson.

Hyder Park:

While this is not listed as an official dog park in Albuquerque on the CABQ website, it is one of the more prominent places people go to take their dogs for walks. It is a pretty open area with plenty of room for dogs to play. There are trees for shade and water foundations available. They even have stands with plastic bags in it in which you can take a bag to clean up after your dog. People take their dog here, play Frisbee with them or even walk around the sidewalk with them. It is a nice and quiet park your dog and you can enjoy.

Located near Wellesley and Richmond.
