Skies of Arcadia
This was a game that was ahead of its time. It featured a Jules Verne inspired world which looks like an early version of steampunk. Skies of Arcadia also features pirates long before pirates were cool. Not only does Skies of Arcadia feature pirates but it features sky pirates which are even cooler. As an RPG the game was great. The game offered lots of fun battle options to make the game a great RPG. Its time that Skies of Arcadia gets a sequel.
Soul Calibur
While the Dreamcast was known for its great fighters Soul Calibur is on this list because the Dreamcast game was actually better then the arcade and it even made the arcade game popular. Its not common that a port is better then the original. Not only did Soul Calibur offer better graphics, gameplay, etc it also offered more game play options. While other consoles of the same generation got Soul Calibur it was the Dreamcast version that helped to make the game popular and allow the franchise to continue.
Sonic Adventure 2
Many fans of the Sonic franchise consider Sonic Adventure 2 to be the very best game of the series. Sonic Adventure 2 was so popular it got ported to the Gamecube where it was named Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. On the Gamecube Sonic Adventure went on to become one of the top selling games of the Gamecube console.
Phantasy Star Online
Phantasy Star Online continued the popular franchise. Phantasy Star Online was so popular that it was ported to other systems of the generation. The game was one of the first RPG to not be turned based and was an important game to the future of RPGs.
Capcom Fighters
One thing that the Dreamcast was best known for was its fighters. Of all the fighting games that were made for the Dreamcast by far the best and most popular were the Capcom games. It is hard to pick any one game from the list of Capcom made fighters for the Dreamcast. Whether you were a fan of Marvel Vs. Capcom, Capcom Vs SNK, or any other of the long list of Capcom fighters on the Dreamcast you were going to get the best games of the generation.
While the Dreamcast did not do well in terms of sales it obviously did have many good games. Many of the games on this list were so good they were ported to other systems of the generation. Fans of the Dreamcast will still love these games today.
