Cropped
If the weather permits, the cropped belted jacket with three quarter sleeves makes a hot statement on a cold night. The belted style cinches the waist and complements nearly any outfit. Pair this classy little number with jeggings, a long tunic sweater and sassy boots and you'll be the height of fashion for the evening.
Shrugs
According to Merriam Webster's Dictionary a shrug is a "a woman's small waist-length or shorter jacket" but the definition is so simple in comparison the designs and styles of shrugs available. Knit shrugs with long sleeves may be just what you're looking for when it comes to a coat for winter parties. It offers warmth for your arms but doesn't hide your outfit by any means. If you're really looking to stand out check out some of the fur or fur lined shrugs. Fox, chinchilla, camel and rabbit are hot on these small jackets but remember the more fur; the more it's going to cost you.
Bolero
If you're not so sure of the "average" shrug check out some of the stylish bolero's on the scene. These types of shrugs have more covering in the front of the jacket but is still leaves the front open. Though there are plain knit bolero's there are some that are really hitting the mark for the holiday. Beading and sequins are gracing the front of the Bolero's while others are being created with delicate silk flowers.

So you think the trench coat is for a business meeting and not a holiday party? If you do; think again. Trenches can and will do the trick for your holiday event and there are so many styles to choose from. Smooth, belted, point collar, as well as, short, mid and knee length to keep you dry and warm. Okay, these are basics of trenches but a trench in velvet, crinkles, open necklines and ruffles just took your look from sedated to sizzling and with very little effort.
