Best Easter Candy Ever

What are the best Easter candies ever?

In the past couple of years, candy producers have finally figured something out. They realized that they could join the Easter candy market by packaging their candies in bite-sized portions and wrapping them in pastel colors. For some reason, the same companies that did this for Halloween did not figure until recently out they should also do this for Easter.

Hershey's kisses were quicker than others to use pastel wrappers and join the Easter party.

In the past couple of years non-traditional candies have raided the Easter packaging closet, including Milky Ways, Three Musketeers, and even Butterfingers.

Although these individually-wrapped candies can now conveniently be included in a candy-filled Easter basket, there are still some candies that will always be part of the exclusive club: The Best Easter Candy Ever.

Best Easter Candy Ever

Best Easter Candy Ever: Peeps

Those sugary Marshmallow Peeps always seem to find their way into Easter baskets. An Easter basket would incomplete without the yellow or white ducks and bunnies. Pink and purple peeps are also peeping around in the candy aisle. It's no wonder that Peeps are the best selling non-chocolate Easter candy (Just Born Marshmallow Peeps).

The Marshmallow Peep people have gone in the other direction of other candy makers. They used to be just for Easter. Now you can find Halloween and Christmas peeps too.

Best Easter Candy Ever: Pez

Pez have been the cause of a break up on Seinfeld and have been pleasing tongues for years. Whether you like to collect Pez dispensers, or just like the taste of the little rectangular candies, Pez is a must-have Easter candy. Easter Pez dispensers include the pink bunny, a yellow duck, or a sweet white lamb. Pez is also an inexpensive candy, like Peeps.

Best Easter Candy Ever: Robin Eggs

Not the Mini Robin Eggs, which do not have enough malt, but the regular sized Robin Eggs, are one of the Best Easter candies ever. The colorful and speckled eggs have a light candy coating outside, a layer of chocolate, and a nice helping of malted candy. They are better than the round shaped Whoppers because the egg shapes gives the Robin Eggs that much more malty goodness.

Robin Eggs are made by Hershey's, who also makes Whoppers.

Best Easter Candy Ever: Cadbury Eggs

Cadbury Eggs used to be a total novelty. They were like Disney movies: available for a limited time only, until, they were tucked away until next time. Cadbury Eggs are a total sugary, liquidy explosion that can only truly be enjoyed by children or total sugar-aholics. It is one of the best Easter candies ever, to some, just not to me.

Best Easter Candy Ever: SweeTarts Eggs

SweeTarts Eggs satisfied the sweet/sour palette of kids well before sour gummy worms and the big sour candy and drink movement hit the market. SweeTarts Eggs are subtly different their flavors. The best flavors from best to worst are: purple, green, orange, and red. Red is way to sour. Bad sour, not good sour.

Best Easter Candy Ever: Solid Milk Chocolate Bunny

No Easter basket is complete without a big solid bunny happily waiting to get his ears chewed off. White chocolate is also a good choice. Forget the cheap hollow bunnies, splurge on a smaller, solid bunny of higher quality chocolate.

Best Easter Candy Ever: Pastel M&Ms

M&Ms are good any time of year. The pretty Easter M&Ms are in pastel colors, and actually prompt you to eat fewer M&Ms than the darker flavors (totally not true, but sounds good, doesn't it?)

Best Easter Candy Ever: Jelly Belly Jelly Beans

Jelly Belly jelly beans are small, gourmet jelly beans that come in the most exquisite flavors. The best part of Jelly Belly jelly beans is that they can be happily enjoyed and savored one by one. Best flavors: sour apple, coconut, watermelon. Best new flavor: Pomegranate!

Worst flavors: buttered popcorn, peanut butter. The worst flavors are mostly a texture issue, as some flavors are so connected to their texture, that it just tastes wrong to eat them in another form.
