Best Etsy Shops for Vintage Clothing

Etsy, Where All the Cool Kids Shop

I love Etsy!

The independent shops on Etsy are full of wonderful unique finds, art, jewelry, house wares, antiques and clothes, lots and lots of clothes. Truly there is no better place to find such a wide variety of vintage clothing than Etsy. Other online sites may have large selections, but the sellers personality really shines on Etsy. I also feel like there is better one on one service on Etsy, due to their excellent messaging system.

Vintage dresses in particular are a weak spot for me and apparently many others, since the sellers seem to be doing a brisk business.

My pick for the top five Vintage Clothing sellers on Etsy are;

BetaBoutiquehttp://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5332528

and her second shop full of mostly vintage scarves

The shop keeper is a film student in Latvia, in Eastern Europe. On her profile page she lists her taste as a synthesis of romantic & cosmopolitan, vintage & contemporary. Her source of inspiration is pop art, fauvism and soviet kitsch. And, being a film student also lists the golden age of Hollywood, French new wave, Italian neo-realism, and contemporary Asian and Scandinavian cinema.

What an interesting list. From that description alone, I want to buy her clothing.

Her vintage pieces are reasonably priced under $50. There are over a hundred items listed, over a hundred dresses alone. Right now she is running a special, for every $50 purchased, she throws in a free gift, scarf, postcard..

The fact that she is shipping from a Eastern European country, means that there will be a delay most likely. Please be patient. It'll be worth it!

Is my next choice. This shop is located in Austin, Texas and only accepts Paypal, no returns. As with all vintage clothing, you will want to double check with the shopkeeper the exact sizing of the item you intend to purchase. Do not wait until you receive it.

Her shop is also full of items under $50 even this adorable Full Frenchy skirt. http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=30449025

Then there is TimelessVixen. http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6910126

This shop is in a category by itself. The vintage clothing is exquisite. Wide variety of stunning dresses; vintage party dresses, vintage rockabilly, vintage designer dresses, day dresses, Hawaiian, burlesque, boudoir and vintage wedding dresses. I am in love with his collection of vintage flapper dresses circa 1920's, impeccable, and constructed to last.

According to the profile page, they stock pieces from the 1870's to the 1970's and have "dazzled collectors at the California Vintage Exploitations and host private appointments at their Beverly Hills Location."

They accept paypal, money orders and personal checks, and ship fast. Again, there return policy is well spelled out. Check your measurements against the posted guidelines for the item before placing an order. Vintage is sold, as is.

VonlenskaVonlenskaVintage brings us back to reality. While I love Timeless Vixen and drool over their finds, I would be hard pressed to turn over $1,000 for a dress. But that's just me....at this time in my life. They are still one of favorite browsing stores.

Vonlenska Vonlenska Vintage on the other hand, has a nice selection of 60s, 70s and 80 mod, bohemian and punk fashions. http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=30573674

Pricing is under $100 at this site, plus there is a large sale going on, with the summer dresses and blouses going for $15-$25 a piece.

She does a great job at offering unique pieces at an affordable price.

The real key to wearing vintage is to find the pieces that work for your shape and overall style. If that piece happens to be from the 1940's, so be it.

Finally, there is VioletFolklore. I saved the best for last. Two friends, Sasha and Amber offer this dreamy collection. They are California girls who met at an herbal apprenticeship program and have since formed this magical alliance.

In their own words, they are "Your Bohemian Rhapsody, dressing the most fabulous Free Spirits, Forest Folk, Peasant Princesses, Flower Children, Fairy Tale Heroines, Psychedelic Mamas, Prairie Sisters, Gypsy Poets, Earth Priestesses, and Victorian Ghost Girls of the world!"

Their hippie chick clothing collection runs under $50. They accept Paypal money orders and personal checks and have impeccable customer service.

Both of them keep interesting blogs as well, which is what initially drew me into to their web. Check them out at the following sites;

and one bonus shop for you...

Shoe Shoe Vintage carries, what else but shoes, vintage shoes. Like these vintage canvas Mary Janes, too cute for only $32.00.
