Best Family Christmas Party Games

Christmas Themed Games for Families

Erika Northman
Games are great fun during the Christmas season. The best games require team work. They provide us with entertainment and a chance to bond with the people around us. Some people like to use games to keep guests and kids out of the kitchen. If you do that, make sure it's really okay with those in the kitchen. In my house, it is not. My mom loves games way too much to miss any chance to play them. So we always play games when she can fully participate such as after dinner. Here are 3 great family Christmas party game ideas for you to try:

Wrap Me Up
Materials: lots of Christmas wrapping paper, tape, bows

Have each team choose one member to be the package. Teams will be given a time limit such as 5 minutes to wrap their teammate up. Encourage creativity. The best looking gift wins.

Variation: You can have the teams create a dress or suit out of the wrapping paper. Again with the best looking gift wins.

Stuff the Stocking
Materials: one stocking per team, one spoon per team, one bowl filled with candy or nuts sufficient to fill the stocking

Place stockings on the far side of the room. To be fair, have an equal number of children and adults on the teams. Place the bowl of candy or nuts on a table or chair opposite the stockings. Teammates take turns. They fill their spoons with the candy or nuts and race across the room to fill the stockings. If any falls out, they have to pick it up and go back to the starting point again. First team to have transferred all their candy or nuts to their stocking wins.

Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer Kiss
Materials: Vaseline, Red Circles (one per team)

Teams line up. Put a dab Vaseline on each participant's nose and your own. Ask for a volunteer to help you demonstrate the "Rudolf Kiss". Place the red circle on your nose and then push your nose against the volunteer's nose until it transfers. Be sure to make a large kissing noise for added effect. Each team will then pass the Rudolf Kiss down the line. If the circle falls at anytime, the team must start again from the beginning. First team to finish wins.

I hope you and your family will enjoy the teamwork as well as the moments of laughter and amusement provided by these simple family Christmas games. It is the time we enjoy with our family that is our best gift.
