The World's Largest Halloween Party at the Louisville Zoo

Looking for something to do with the whole family for Halloween in the Louisville, Kentucky or Southern Indiana area? Why not "The World's Largest Halloween Party" hosted by the Louisville zoo. This is the perfect not so scary Halloween event for the young and young at heart.

Many areas of the zoo will be set up as scenes from kids' favorite books and movies. There will be new characters like Shrek and Capitan Jack Sparrow as well as classics such as the Flinstones and the Wizard of Oz characters. I'm most excited to see how Candyland Way turns out. There you'll get to meet Willy Wonka and an Oompa Loompa in an area full of sweets. Younger children will want to meet Mumpkin, the giant talking pumpkin. The disco dancing aliens will probably appeal more to the older kids. Something isn't quite right with the carousel, see if your little ones can figure out what it is. Children aged eleven years and younger will even be able to do their trick-or-treating at the zoo.

The event is free for those with a zoo membership. Tickets are $6.50 per person if bought at the zoo and $6 if bought online. Discounts are available for groups of at least fifteen people. If you park at the zoo there it costs $3. If you park at Derby City Ball Field and use the shuttle service parking is free. "The World's Largest Halloween party has many dates in the month of October. The event will be held on Saturday, October 6, on Sunday, October 7, on Thursday, October 11, on Friday, October 12, on Saturday, October 13, on Sunday, October 14, on Thursday, October 18, on Friday, October 19, on Saturday, October 20, on Sunday, October 21, on Thursday, October 25, on Friday, October 26, on Saturday, October 27, and on Saturday, October 28. The hours on the Thursdays and Fridays for the event will be 5:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. The hours on the Saturday and Sundays will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M.

If you are not in the immediate Louisville, Kentucky or Southern Indiana area, make a day trip and don't miss out on the fun. Come to the zoo for the day and check out all the animals. The zoo closes early for the event so use this opportunity to grab some supper and change in to your costumes. Then come back and enjoy the party. This is a very popular event so the earlier you go during the month the less crowded it usually is. Remember to dress-up, and bring a bag for all your goodies.
