Best Fast Food Milkshake Guide

Chris Tidwell
Many fast food restaurants have good milkshakes, but only a handful have great milkshakes, and you can defiantly tell the difference. A good milkshake is thick, creamy, and tastes like real ice cream, even if it's not. So here are my picks for the best fast food restaurants milkshake.

Hardy's is a pretty good fast food chain, but their milkshakes are what I love most about Hardy's. Their milkshakes are thick and creamy and made with 100% real ice cream. Hardy's offers all your standard variety of milkshakes, but overall their strawberry is the best. Hardy's milkshakes are a great treat on the go.

Dairy Queen or DQ as it is commonly referred to, has some amazing shakes. DQ is of course known for their real ice cream treats and their Blizzards, another great frozen treat, and so it would stand to reason that their milkshakes are great too. DQ shakes come in a wide variety of flavors but the standard chocolate, vanilla and strawberry are the best, vanilla topping the list.

McDonalds, the fast food giant also has some pretty awesome milkshakes as well. They may not be as thick as their competitors, but their taste is second to none. McDonald's vanilla shake is their absolute best and chocolate follows close behind. Nothing goes better then a good ol' McDonald's vanilla milkshake and a double cheeseburger. Also McDonalds introduced their triple thick shake that will offer a bit more flavor and thickness to those who want it.

Steak n' Shake is widely known for their shakes and malts, and rightly so. Steak n' Shake uses real ice cream and other real ingredients to make their famed shakes, and it's reflected in their taste. The sheer variety of possible shake combinations is mind blowing; you can get everything from a chocolate banana shake, to a strawberry vanilla shake, and any and everything in between. Of course they have the standards available, but why not mix it up a bit? Steak n' Shake is probably the best fast food milkshake on the market today.

Now many places may not have one, but Krystals is an old restaurant chain that has just introduced a new product, their Milk Quakes. Krystals Milk Quakes are made with 100% real ice cream and could possibly give Steak n' Shake a good run for their money. Milk Quakes are thick and creamy with some of the most vibrant flavors you have ever tasted. At the moment they are only available in your three basic flavors, strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla, but hopefully they will expand that line in the future. I don't think I have ever tasted a better milkshake from a fast food restaurant, except for maybe Steak n' Shake's, but Milk Quakes from Krystals are defiantly worth a try.

There are plenty of places to choose from when you want a quick cool treat on the go, but these fast food places are my favorites for a good ol' milkshake.

Sonic has good shakes too, and the Arby's Jamocha Shake is pretty tasty as well. Steak-n-Shake does have the best though...
