Best Fat Burning Foods for Men

Shay Mabry
For the body to burn fat you need to speed up your metabolism. These super foods can be added to your diet to increase the amount of calories you burn and the number pounds you shed.

Whole Grain Cereal and Oats
Eating a bowl of whole grain cereal or oatmeal can really boost your metabolism. Whole grain cereal and oats are both packed with complex carbohydrates and fiber. Complex carbohydrates and fiber keep the insulin levels in the body low. When insulin levels are high the body is sent a message to store fat. Oatmeal takes longer to break down resulting in low insulin levels and the body burning calories.

Tuna and Salmon
Leptin is a hormone in the body that controls whether you burn fat or store it. Fish contains Omega-3 fatty acids. Eating fish such as tuna and salmon can decrease the levels of leptin in the body and increase the amount of calories you burn. If you do not like fish include a fish oil supplement in your diet. Rather than eating 6 grams of fat replace it with 6 grams of fish oil.

Chicken and Turkey
Chicken and turkey are both meats that are high in protein and low in fat. When your body takes in protein it uses more energy to digest it than it would to digest carbohydrates or fat. So the more high protein foods you eat the more calories your body will burn working to digest it.

Hot and Spicy Peppers
A peppers spice level is determined by a chemical called capsaicin. Capsaicin revs up your heart rate and boosts your metabolism. Eating at least one spicy meal a day can increase your metabolism by 25% and burn calories for up to 3 hours longer.

Coffee and Green Tea
We have all heard about the effects of green tea and how it can boost your metabolism. Well its true and coffee has that same power. Coffee and green tea both contain caffeine. Caffeine revs up your heart rate causing you to burn more calories. Green tea has an added bonus. Green tea contains a chemical called EGCG. EGCG has the same effect as caffeine but instead of revving up your heart it speeds up the brain and nervous system.
