Best Female Comic Book Character Halloween Costumes

Halloween is quickly approaching and that means it's time to figure out the best costume. This year, why not pick one of the best female comic book characters in history?

Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman is an Amazon, but she's also a strong woman that fights for good. You can find Wonder Woman costumes from almost every retailer, but you can also create your very own Diana Prince costume. Even if you head to a Halloween party where there's six other Wonder Woman costumes on display, you'll probably be the only Diana Prince.

Diana Prince was the alter ego of Wonder Woman and a little more modest since she worked in an office with lots of men around. Prince always had the same blue black hair as her other side, but you can fake that with a can of temporary spray or a great wig. Pull it into a low ponytail and slip on a pair of great gold hoop earrings.

Next comes the costume itself. You'll need a nice suit in a preferably dark color like navy or black. Pick a knee length skirt and a fitted blazer to show off your curves. Diana is tall, but that doesn't stop her from wearing great heels. Opt for a pair with a chunky heel that makes your legs look phenomenal.

Lois Lane

Millions of people watch "Smallville" every week and part of the reason is Lois Lane. This feisty reporter knows what she wants and isn't afraid to go out there and get it. There are several ways you can make your own Lois Lane costume, but taking the modern route is a little easier and a little more fun.

First up is the hair. The modern day Lois Lane is just getting her foot in the door when it comes to reporting so she needs her hair pulled back and out of the way. Try pulling back the top layer into a ponytail and letting the rest hang free. Sweep over your bangs and you'll be all set. Makeup wise go for the less is more look, emphasizing your eyes and lips over anything else.

Lois Lane dresses casually since she never knows when the next story will break. Pick a pair of dark washed jeans that fit great and hug your curves. Add a tank top or tee shirt in a bright primary color since Lois always compliments Clark and top it off with a khaki blazer that fits right.

Accessories wise you don't need a whole lot to make your Lois Lane costume. A fake press pass around your neck is a good choice and always make sure your digital camera and cell phone are close by.

Black Canary

When it comes to female comic book characters, it doesn't get any hotter than Black Canary. Despite her on again/off again relationship with the Green Arrow, she always manages to find something or someone to keep her interested. This character has a scream that can shatter anything around and stun the villains, but she also knows how to fight with her hands when needed.

A Black Canary costume would be nothing without a pair of fishnet stockings. Ever since she was first introduced, this character has worn her trademark fishnets with pride. You'll also need black leather gloves that stop right above the wrist and black leather boots that stop just below the knee, preferably with a high heel. Grab a black spandex unitard or a black bustier with short shorts. Complete the look with a fitted black blazer.

Rogue

Rogue is a fiery burst of energy that has an unfortunate power. Whenever she touches someone, she absorbs their life force, which she learned after killing her boyfriend. She has an on again/off again relationship with the sexy Gambit, but she doesn't trust herself nearly as much as those around her do.

When it comes to pulling off a Rogue costume, you absolutely must have the hair right. Rogue has a thick white stripe running through her brown hair, though sometimes it looks blond in the comic books. If you're a brunette, give your hair some volume and curl with a curling iron. Then spritz the top of your hair and the left hand side with a bottle of white colored spray.

The clothing is a little more difficult since Rogue went through so many transitions over the years. Your best bet is to emulate her teenage rebellion look from the X-Men movies. Pick flowing clothes in dark colors like a black prairie skirt with an embroidered shirt. Top the look off with a pair of elbow length gloves and a cape, if you dare.

Aunt May

Worried that men will be looking down your shirt all night long? That won't be a worry if you pull out the Aunt May costume. Better known as the widowed aunt to Spiderman, this little old lady has more spunk than you might be expecting.

Slap on a gray haired wig, pull it back into a bun and you'll almost be ready to go. Then paw through your mom or grandma's closet to find the right outfit. Pick sensible brown or white shoes, a floor grazing skirt and matching shirt or a modest looking dress. Then top the whole thing off with an oversized cardigan.
