This lake is called Drano Lake and is actually the mouth of The Little White Salmon river located 7 miles west of White Salmon, Washington. Located on highway 14 it is easy to see why so many go fishing here. You can get your fishing license there in town at many of the local stores for around $30.00 dollars.
At Drano Lake you'll find they have a pretty good sized boat launch as well as clean restrooms. There is no food on site but nearby at White Salmon, Washington they have a McDonald's as well as several stores for your food needs. Your limit at Drano Lake is two salmon but trust me when I say you can pull 20 pound salmon easily from this lake.
I have found that you can not only fish for salmon in this lake but also steel head. You can use a pole or reel and you will need to use a 12 to 20 pound test line. The best lures to use are the magnum wiggle warts. Be prepared for these salmon are pretty adamant about putting up a fight so be prepared for a fight.
There is a RV park called the Bridge RV Park on your way to the lake so you may wish to check into staying there for the night. They offer RV as well as tent camping and they are real reasonable with their prices. They have a laundry facility on the premises as well as ice and showers.
You may wish to Google Drano Lake for many great fishing tips. Another great source for fishing tips is web site www.wdfw.wa.org. My husband went to Drano Lake the other night after work and pulled a beautiful eighteen pound salmon out of it. So I know for a fact there is great sized fish in this lake.
You may want to wear some sort of suitable pants and shoes that can get wet. Because my husband was up to his ankles in water pulling this hard headed fish in. There are also many other improved areas for RV parking in the surrounding areas as well as a few bed and breakfast Inn's located in White Salmon, Washington.
There is a Harvest Market grocery store on the buff in White Salmon as well if you are looking to stock up on snacks before your fishing adventure. So if you are just passing through the area or just moved here and looking for a great lake to drop a line into, then this is the place.
