With warm sunny days comes the idea to go fishing for that next big catch of the fishing season. There is nothing better than sitting on a boat and reeling in the biggest catfish or bass you ever saw. Here are a few hot spots for fishing in Virginia that might just land you that big catch you been waiting to reel in for a long time.

Virginia is known for having some nice catfish and bass in many different locations that are worth traveling to. There are plenty of places throughout Virginia that offer great fishing spots but there are some spots that stand out among others.

James River

The James River is well known for fishing and has had some of the biggest catfish and bass reeled in. The biggest blue catfish ever reeled in was 71 ½ lbs while the flathead catfish weighed 66 ½. The biggest channel catfish weighed 31 ½ lbs. Impressive, yes, it can be done and the James River has proven to have the biggest fish in the Old Dominion.

If you and your family are up for some great fishing then the James River is the best hot spot for fishing. The James River is the best water to catch these monster fish. Kerr Lake better known as Buggs Island Lake

If you are up for some traveling to catch a big fish then Kerr/Buggs Island Lake is another hot spot for fishing. The biggest catfish on record to be caught at this lake was 109 lbs on 3-17-2011. However, other catfish have weighed in between 40 and 80 lbs, which is a great catch. This lake is full of huge fish waiting to be reeled in by an angler.

It really is a great spot in Virginia for fishing. A true angler will not come home empty handed and will be willing to travel to Kerr /Buggs Island just to reel in the catch of the day.
