As a former gym owner, and a certified fitness instructor, I know that sports drinks can give people that 'extra push' to get through a good work out. Since the motive of a good work out is good health and fitness, and you don't want all the sugary carbs that most regular energy drinks have; try these low carb energy drinks. They really do taste quite good, and they will keep the energy level up, and help to keep you hydrated. Be careful though; most have a lot of caffeine, and you do want to be able to wind down after your workout.
1. Rockstar Zero Carbs
Wild Berry is the flavor for Rockstar Zero Carbs, and it really is quite delicious. The taste is mostly like blueberries, with only a slight after-taste of artificial sweetener; not nearly as bad as the diet soft drinks.
Rockstar Zero Carbs comes in 16 oz. and 24 oz. cans, with a serving size of 8 oz. There is 10 calories per serving, 0 grams of carbs and 110 grams of sodium. With 120 mg. of caffeine, each 8 oz. serving is much like having a very strong cup of coffee.
The cost is $1.99 a can, and can be purchased in some grocery stores, most convenience stores or online at http://www.screamingenergy.com/buy_energy_drinks.php.
2. Rip it Chic Energy Berry In-o-scent
Rip it Chic Energy Berry In-o-scent has a light berry flavor that is not too strong or overpowering. I find this drink to be quite refreshing.
Though Rip it Chic Energy Berry In-o-scent is not considered a diet drink, and does not have the unpleasant after-taste of typical diet drinks; it has no calories and no carbs. The caffeine and energy producing ingredients is out of this world though with 1500 mcg. Taurine, 150 mg. caffeine, 150 mg. inositol and 12 mg. Guarana seed extract. It packs quite the punch; enough to get you through a strenuous work-out, or at the end of the work day when energy levels are waning.
The price is the big turn-off with Rip it Chic Energy Berry In-o-scent. At $2.19 a can, there are other energy drinks on the market that are equally as good, and cost less money.
3. 5 - Hour Energy
With 2 oz. in each bottle 5-Hour Energy is more like an energy shot than an energy drink. 5 - Hour Energy comes in 4 different types and flavors, and they all taste kind of bad. Some of my friends who drink this will mix it with another drink to make it more palatable. I will get the lemon-lime and mix with my ice water that I already have a slice or two of fresh lemon. Then it tastes really good, and I get the same effect.
5 - Hour Energy does have the usual high content of caffeine for this to be considered a low carb sports drink; one thing I like about it, and that makes it a healthy drink, is it is chalked full of B - vitamins and amino acids.
Even though the different flavors of 5 - Hour Energy are pricey at $1.65 - $2.99 for a 2 oz. serving, I will get one once in a while because I consider them to be a healthier way to get extra energy. This drink can be bought at most convenience stores or online.
4. Rush! Lite
Rush! Lite is 0 sugar grams and 0 carbs, low on sodium and a little low on caffeine. It has a strawberry flavor with a relatively strong artificial sweetener after taste that is kind of unpleasant, but all in all it is a pretty good drink.
Rush! Lite has less of what produces energy, though it will produce enough energy to get you over the hump. One thing I have found with Rush! Lite is it tends to improve my moods a bit when I drink it. It has a good vitamin blend.
At $1.99 a can, the price is equal to most other energy drinks.
5. Monster Energy Lo Carb
This is probably my favorite of all the energy drinks. It is not real sweet, and the taste is kind of a cross between Seven - Up and Sprite.
It has all the usual ingredients that make a low carb energy drink a low carb energy drink; with lots of energy blend (caffeine) and B - vitamins. In fact, this drink has enough vitamins in it, I'm surprised they don't advertise it as a health drink as well.
The cost is $1.99 a can and can be bought in most supermarkets, health food stores and online at http://www.screamingenergy.com/buy_energy_drinks.php.
Why not give all of these energy drinks a try and see which one you like the best.
