Best Foods to Help Lose Belly Fat

Sandra Piddock
I've almost conquered my weight problem now, but there's a layer of fat around my midsection that's just refusing to budge, despite my best efforts. It seems incredible that there are foods which can help to shift fat from specific areas such as the belly, but apparently that is the case. I'm a bit of a cynic when it comes to weight loss plans - especially when somebody has something to sell - but so many experts say the same things about foods that help to burn belly fat that there must be something in it.

One thing all these foods seem to have in common is that they are low in fat and have maximum filling power. Eating more of these foods will help you stick to a healthy eating plan and continue to lose weight. Eventually, when the rest of the fat has gone, it has to go from the belly area. These are the foods to eat more of if you want to bid your belly fat a fond farewell.

Oatmeal

Oatmeal is high in fibre with plenty of filling power from the whole grains, protein and carbohydrate. A bowl of porridge is a healthy, filling breakfast that will help you lose belly fat and keep your heart healthy.

Eggs

Eggs are no longer seen as the enemy of healthy eating. Eggs are very high in protein, which is needed for developing muscles, and they are also very filling. Include eggs in your diet to help banish that belly.

Lean meat and fish

High in protein and low in carbohydrates, lean meat and fish is an exellent choice for dinner, as it will fill you up for the evening without adding to your fat stores. Salmon, sardines, tuna and mackerel are high in omega-3 oils and will help you to lose that belly fat. Many experts believe omega-3 helps to burn fat.

Yogurt

Low fat yogurt is a great source of calcium and its friendly bacteria help to keep your digestive system working well, so banishing the bloated feeling we get from time to time. Some studies have shown that people who include yogurt in their diet lose more belly fat than people who get their dairy requirements from other sources. Combined with fresh berries, yogurt makes for a healthy, belly reducing dessert.

Almonds

An ounce of almonds - about 24 a day - will help stave off hunger pangs, as well as providing you with the 'good' fats that your body needs, as well as that all-important protein.

Including these foods in your diet will help you to lose belly fat, but remember to keep your overall calorie count at a level that allows you to lose weight. Go for unprocessed foods wherever possible, and include some protein in every meal. Some experts say that eating 5 smaller meals a day rather than 3 large ones will help boost metabolism and speed up the loss of belly fat. Good luck!
