Best Free Activities You Can Do as a Couple in Cleveland, Ohio

R. Elizabeth C. Kitchen
Cleveland is often described as a great city for singles, but this means that there is usually a lot of dating happening. Couples in Cleveland, Ohio can enjoy a variety of activities, may of which are free. Here we will focus on the free activities that couples can do.

The Cleveland Metroparks

This is usually not everyone's first thought, but it should be. Cleveland's Metroparks are some of the best in the country with hiking trails, waterfalls, sports and picnicking in the summer and sled riding and cross country skiing in the winter. Of course, they are free and there is always plenty of parking. The parks do get very busy on summer holidays, such as the 4th of July, but you and your significant other can still find plenty to do together.

Lake View Cemetery

I know that a cemetery does not exactly sound like it sparks romance, but unless you have been there you have no idea how peaceful and beautiful this historical landmark is. Located in downtown Cleveland, you can walk through during the day and see various monuments of famous names, includes Elliot Ness, President Garfield and John D. Rockefellar.

Edgewater Beach

On the near westside sits Cleveland's very own beach. There is of course plenty of water and sand, but depending on where you go down there, there is also a pavilion, a pier and plenty of rocks to sit on to watch the sunset. You will also enjoy free parking. If you wait until around 8:00pm on weekdays, the beach tends to clear out a bit so there are less people.

Tremont Art Walks

These only happen once a month, but they are free. You are your significant other can come down to the Tremont neighborhood on Cleveland's west side and browse the different galleries to see what art they are offering. You can also enjoy free live music and refreshments.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Outdoor Concerts

During the summer months you can head down to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and enjoy free concerts outside. Out front there is a large space where they set up a small stage. A large variety of bands will stop by, sometimes when on tour and sometimes just to play, and put on a free show. All you have to do is show up. Parking will not be free because you will have to find it somewhere, take a bus, take a taxi or get a ride, but the show itself is completely free.
