Post a CommentYou forgot a big one, or I didn't read carefully enough: there is free Wi-Fi at all Tucson public libraries. They have both tables AND chairs, too.
Thanks, Ed! I'd love to see some small tables or trays-- that laptop DOES get pretty warm... we love Bookman's and we love any excuse to spend more time there.
Just saw the other comment regarding laptop placement: We have comfy chairs throughout most of the store, some of them located near open plugs that you can plug into. The ideal spot, both with lots of seating and closest to the wi-fi router is the stage area, just past the DVD section on the west wall of the store. If you can't keep your laptop on your lap (i have trouble with mine since it gets so hot) feel free to get comfy on the floor or pull up another chair to rest it on. Unfortunately, we don't really have much, if any, table space to spread out on, but given your comment, I'll start shopping around and see if I can't find any tasteful "TV tray-type" things that customers can use to put their stuff on. Also, and this is in the future, all of our remodels and new stores are going to be laid out with plugs and seating designed for laptop users. We get tons of you in here, so we want to make sure everyone is comfortable :D
Hey ya'll! Thanks for mentioning us in your article. I'm the manager of the Grant/Campbell location and hopefully I can help a bit with your wi-fi issues at our store. As far as I know, its a simple matter of selecting the "Bookmans-Grant" wi-fi from your computer's options (I'm on a mac, and the icon for me shows in the top right as a pulldown menu showing available networks. In most Windows machines I've seen, its a little icon in the tray in the bottom right of the screen). Our wi-fi is totally unsecured (does NOT require a password) and should be accessible to anyone with a wireless card in their laptop. That said, it does have some very infrequent downtime, so maybe you tried it when it last went down. Also, feel free to ask for a supervisor while you're in the store if you're having problems. While we won't make any changes to your computer, we can check to make sure we're online and broadcasting. If you have any other questions or comments, feel free to call us at the s
I'd love to go hang out at Bookman's with my laptop-- I just haven't figured out how to do it! We should say something to them, eh?
That is a very valid point Jackie! I guess it would literally be a laptop in this case, huh? Thanks for the feedback!
As much as I love Bookman's, the free WiFi makes little sense, since there's almost nowhere to PUT a laptop. Sure, there's chairs, but no tables (unless you reserve the community room)...
